AS MOST STUDEBAKER COLLECTORS KNOW THE LOEWY DESIGNED COUPES HAVE MUCH MORE ATTRACTIVE LINES THAN THE STANDARD 2 DOOR SEDANS AND ARE A MUCH MORE SOUGHT AFTER MODEL.
THIS STUDEBAKER IS BEING LISTED FOR A LONG TIME FRIEND IN OUR CAR CLUB COMMUNITY WHICH HAS BEEN LONG RETIRED AND HAS BUILT HIS OWN CARS OVER THE LAST 40 YEARS AND WITH RECENT BACK SURGERY AND AGE HAS DECIDED TO SELL THE CAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN OWNED FOR 10 YEARS AND HAS HAD 100 MILES PUT ON IT IN THE LAST 4 YEARS SINCE COMPLETION ONLY DRIVEN TO CAR SHOWS.
TO START OUT THE BODY WAS SEPERATED FROM THE FRAME WITH THE FRAME BLASTED AND PAINTED WITH A COMPLETE BOLT IN RACK AND PINION KIT FROM SLICK STREET STUFF WITH A FLAMING RIVER RACK INSTALLED WITH DISC BRAKES WHICH INCLUDED THE A ARMS,BALL JOINTS,SPINDLES ECT. FOR COMPLETE MODERN FRONT END. A PROFESSIONALLY BUILT 350 CHEVROLET WITH NEW 2 1/2" EXHAUST AND A 700R4 TRANSMISSION ALONG WITH THE REBUILD FORD 8" WITH A "NEW" 3RD MEMBER WITH 3:25 GEARS FOR A NICE LOW RPM FOR HIGHWAY USE WITH OVERSIZED DRUM BRAKES. THE STEERING AND BRAKES ARE OLD SCHOOL MANUAL. AS YOU CAN SEE THE UNDERCARRIAGE LOOKS LIKE NEW.
THE BODY WAS MEDIA BLASTED WITH THE FRONT FLOOR PANS BEING REPLACED AND ALL BODYWORK WAS DONE OLD SCHOOL USING BODY SOLDER WITH NO BONDO EVER BEING USED ON THIS BODY.
A LONG BOARD WAS USED OVER AND OVER UNTIL THE BODY WAS LASER STRAIGHT AND THEN SPRAYED WITH $1000.00 A GALLON DUPONT CHROMABASE WITH GOLD AND SILVER FLAKES WHICH MAKES THIS CAR STANDOUT FROM ANY ANGLE. THE PAINT JOB ITSELF AND NOT INCLUDING THE BODY WORK CAME TO $10K AND IT SHOWS WHERE THE BODY AND PAINT ARE BABY SMOOTH AND SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. ALL CHROME PARTS SUCH AS THE GRILL BARS AND BUMPERS HAVE ALL BEEN RECHROMED TO MATCH THE FLAWLESS BODY. WITH THE SMOOTHED FIREWALL,FENDER WELLS AND THE REAR MOUNTED BATTERY YOU SEE THAT THIS CAR ALWAYS HAS GOTTEN FULL ATTENTION AT ANY CAR SHOW.
THE INTERIOR IS ALSO HIGHLY DETAILED WITH STUNNING UPHOLSTERY, A GENERAL MOTORS TILT STEERING COLUMN,CARPET, MATCHING PIPING ON THE DOOR PANELS TO MATCH THE OUTER CURVES OF THE DOORS, POLISHED DOOR SILLS WITH THE SAME DETAIL FLOWING INTO THE TRUCK WITH COLORS MATCHING THROUGHOUT. WITH ALL DASH PANELS RECHROMED ALSO. SIMPLY A BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR TO MATCH THE REST OF THE CAR.
THE ONLY FLAWS THAT I HAVE EVER NOTICED IN THIS CAR IS 2 VERY SMALL VERY TINY ROCK CHIPS IN THE FRONT, ONE NICK IN THE PAINT ON THE LOWER REAR OF THE DRIVERS DOOR SHOWN IN THE 22ND. PICTURE. ALL GAUGES WORK EXCEPT FOR THE AMP. GAUGE WHICH WAS NEVER CONNECTED AND THERE ARE WIPER SCRATCH RUBBING MARKS ON LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF WINDSHIELD ABOUT 1/4-1/2" WIDE RUNNING FULL LENGTH OF THE WIPERS NORMAL TRAVEL. THE STOCK WIPER ARMS HAVE NOT BEEN INSTALLED FOR A CLEANER LOOK AND ARE INCLUDED IN THE SALE. THE WIPER MOTOR DOES WORK.

AFTER LOOKING AT THE REFLECTIONS IN SOME OF THE PICTURES IT LOOK LIKE THERE MIGHT BE FLAWS IN THE BODY OR PAINT, THOSE ARE ONLY REFLECTIONS FROM THE BARN, TREES ECT. SHOWING FROM TAKING THE PICTURES OUTDOORS AGAINST A HIGH GLOSS AND VERY REFLECTIVE PAINT.
