Car description

This 1949 Studebaker Champion Business Coupe is in very good condition inside and out - flathead6 - 3 speed w/OD - new tires - runs, drives and stops good !

I bought this 49 Studebaker from a guy that had it in his art gallery as a display to draw people in. I also know the gentleman that had it before that, he owned and ran Pete’s Fine Garage an auto repair garage in Boulder CO, he's the one that DAed and clear coated it.When I got the Studebaker it needed some work and some parts were missing. I’ve acquired and replaced the missing chrome parts and replaced the one year only (1949) dash knobs (swap meet finds). I rebuilt the carburetor, the starter, the speedometer, repaired some small spots on the clear coat and replaced the tires (Cooper white wall radials). It has a new thermostat, water pump, and a new 6 volt electric fuel pump and filter by the gas tank to end vapor lock (the mechanical pump also works). I did some brake work and replaced the parts needed, it also has a 6 volt switched pusher fan in front of the radiator, although it runs normal temp (170-180) without the use of it (flushed and cleaned radiator). Many other miscellaneous smaller parts, hoses, wires, bulbs, adjustments ect. Heater & fan, wipers, lights (interior & exterior), turn signals, all work. Side roll up windows are cracked but that's flat glass, easily replaced, I think it adds charter to the car so I left it.

The Studebaker runs and drives beautifully, I drive it often, it’s a joy and fun to drive. I've driven it to many car shows, some were 200 miles round trip, it stops well and will cruse at 60 to 70 MPH in overdrive – I’ve had it up to 85MPH, I think it will do 90 or a little more. There’s no smoke or unusual noises from the engine, the 170 ci 80 hp stock engine was rebuilt somewhere along the way. I’ve replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. The steering and front end is tight, the body is close to perfect and the interior is very nice, no tears or wear holes.

The owner’s guide booklet and owner’s service certificate along (both in nice condition) with some other old misc. papers dating back to the original first owner in Idaho come with the car.

I’m downsizing and am selling this car because I'm moving closer to where my children and grandchildren live, it’s really a great car and you won’t find another like it.
