This is an extremely rare 1938 Studebaker State Commander Business Coupe. The State Commander and the President Commander in 1938 were the only year and models that had the "art deco" style headlights and grille. This is truly a unique and rare car loaded with factory options. It was originally sold new to owners in Pennsylvania and was kept in a barn on their farm until it was sold in an estate auction and then moved to a museum in Washington State. The museumyears later was liquidated and I bought it from the museum. It is reported that only 38 Business (custom) Coupes were built as State Commanders. The car was originally black and still is. All of the interior is still original and in serviceable condition. All interior and exterior cranks and handles are original. It has a ton of factory options, such as a deluxe steering wheel, twin horns, twin wipers, twin sun visors, factory radio and antenna, factory heater, very rare dash mounted vacuum shift ("miracle shift vacuum transmission control"), automatic overdrive, outside rear view mirror, dual tail lights, factory front and rear bumper guards, factorygrille guard, and original factory tools. It still has the original 6 cylinder, which purrs like a kitten, the original transmission and rear axle, brakes and wheels. The odometer shows 4,141 miles but I cannot verify if that is accurate, but the speedometer does work and is not broken. The car starts, drives, and stops very smoothly and reliablyas a low mileage car should.
