Car description |
---|
This is an about 90% completed restoration of a 1935 Studebaker side mount Dictator with 37 engine that was undertaken 4 years ago with all intention of restoring it to its glory days but health has intervened. Over the four years, many hard to find parts were located and it is believed that all parts are now available to complete the restoration. Body work is completed with final F/thane urethane over 2K primer. All glass is preset (with two new pieces). Shrock rubber including running boards, wiring harness, brake/lines, restored original gas tank, several pieces re-chromed (bumpers and side mount yet to be done). Among the hard to find pieces were the trunk latches, windshield adjustment hardware, head light lenses (found 2 NOS, for US model), and NOS original glass for tail light), and found an original air cleaner and firewall wire connector that are installed on car. Engine #D198738
Also located an entire original interior that included head liner, door and kick panels, B post, trunk covers, front and back seats and front seat installation hardware. Have two wiper bodies, extra rare radiator trim and extra 1935 Studebaker Dictator engine and tranny from Weldon Critcher estate. Total of 8 hubcaps, 2 of which are in poor shape, extra carb and one carb rebuilt by Daytona Carb. Dash gauges were rebuilt by J. Wolf, Apple Hydraulics rebuilt shocks, one rare original Shop manual and one reproduction manual, total of 8 rims, two of which would serve only as spare for side mount use. Rims need to be power coated. Brackets for proper alignment of rear shocks (unique to this 35, were machined).
Not well shown is the new completed vinyl roof and its new wooden support ribs. All window garnish is in primer. No carpet included. Will include all available extra parts applicable to the 35 Model including a partial polished aluminum recreation of the rare trunk latch, extra front seat frame, and springs, rebuilt generator, and cut out, and many loose small parts. Not shown are the seats as they are heavy, will send pictures upon request, but it may take a few days to get them out of storage. The back seat shows one, one inch 90 degree tear and front seat shows wear from driver slide in and out of seat, but is in remarkable shape for its age.
International sale subject to US export laws. Must be off premises by November 1, 2017.
The engine was running prior to machine shop work about 2 years ago and while installed in car, has not yet been restarted, all fluids are in place. Actual mileage is unknown.
Would like for it to go to a person interested in Studebaker preservation. The amount spent so far well exceeds the low reserve, making this car a good candidate for return on investment, a rare case when it comes to Studebaker restoration. This is part of an 11 car collection sale in VA. Questions: 804 776-6215.
