Car description |
---|
The car has a clear MN state title. The hog troughs/torque boxes are in good condition (pix). It is a Studebaker and has typical small leaks. The car has received much TLC, and now it is someone else’s turn to complete it. Car starts, runs and drives and has not been tested for long distances. Car is relisted due to previous high bidder being unable to raise funds. Serious bidders only please!
History:R1592: The good news is the alleged 34 years of storage helped in some ways and hurt in others. Over $10K above the car’s purchase price (also over$10K) has been spent in parts alone (no labor included) to get it where it is today (detailed below). I purchased the car in August of 2015via aneBay bid from a gentleman in Michigan who had owned it for about a year and gave me the 34 years’ storage story. He was the listed owner on the 1963 Studebaker Avanti Owner Registry for 2014. I havecopies of the build sheet, the history, and all receipts that go with the car.
Engine compartment: Petronix electronic ignition, new radiator, rebuilt power steering, rebuilt power steering valve control module, all related hoses and fittings, steering ram rebuilt, rebuilt carburetor, new plug wiring, new fuel pump, lines, and hardware, motor mounts, speedo cable, oil pressure line and David Bass rebuilt windshield wiper motor. New windshield wiper bag, not connected. Stainless ignition covers in good condition. Have a pair of powder coated valve covers, gaskets, and stainless acorn nuts that go with the car.
Brakes: Turner modern disc brake conversion is all new as is the dual chamber master cylinder and new proportioning valve. Brake booster rebuilt. All new rear brake drum shoes and wheel cylinder hardware. New stainless steel brake lines and all new related hoses. Refurbished OEM 15” by 6.5 rims and brand new tires (215 R75 15) required to clear the Turner disk conversion units. Have original hubcaps that go with car. Less than 200 miles on new suspension and tires.
Transmission: Myers rebuilt transmission and converter purchased from them. New transmission lines to radiator cooling system.
Suspension: New link brackets, new rear link stabilizer assembly, new shock absorbers, brake cables, miscellaneous hoses and brackets, new Eaton front springs, bushings as needed, steering kingpins, and added used twin traction rear end and proper lubricant last Fall to replace failed original axle. Many other miscellaneous brackets, hoses, fittings, etc. as needed.
Interior: I removed the whole interior to remove the musty smell, cleaned it, and had the interior doors reupholstered. New carpeting mostly installed, remaining door sills and trim come with the car. Vanity box in glove box compartment completely refurbished and new glass installed. All gages except for clock appear to work correctly. Radio there but have not explored how functional it is.
Fuel system: Brand new fuel tank, sender, fuel lines, filters, rebuilt carb mentioned earlier, new fuel pump also mentioned.
I have all receipts to verify if necessary. Car has the original jack and some added spare parts. Chrome is good on the car and body in good condition. Light touch up needed on the car trunk. Feel free to email with any other questions. PayPal down payment is non-refundable $1000 within 24 hours, with balance via bank-to-bank transfer within 7 days.
