Car description

A very good condition 1962 Studebaker Hawk . rebuilt engine with a 12. 00/ 12 month warranty. rare 4 speed transmission with posi-trac 3:31 rear ( True-Trac). The mileage is a very low documented original 69. 02 miles. Completely remanufactured 289 4 barrel engine. Unlike most of these older engines this one has no oil leaks. Everything except the engine block. head casting and forged steel crankshafet and rods is NEW. All the engine parts were NOS or American made. no off-shore junk. The engine was magnafluxed. bored oversize then line bored. Everything was replaced with new parts. camshaft. ifters. alves. alve guides. istons. ings. il pump etc. The heads were magnafluxed. planed flat and had all new parts installed. The camshaft is new. as is the upper and lower timing gear. The bypass oil filter and the oil pressure lines were switched to stainless steel lines and a spin-on filter installed. Additionally I had the front timing cover machined to accept a modern timing cover seal rather then the leakey felt factory seal. Electric fuel pump. brand new Edelbrock 1406 carb. The Prestolite distributor was replaced with a great working Delco with all new cap. otor. points and spark plug wires. I posted a picture of the billing so you can see everything that was done to the engine. The car has a smooth shifting 4 speed transmission with no whines. clunks or leaks. The clutch. pressure plate and throwout bearing were replaced when the engine was rebuilt. A brand new retro-styled am/fm/cd/mp3/satellite radio. Custom Autosound USA-4. was installed. Everything works. all the glass is good . the windows all go up and down ok. Power steering. This car has the optional underseat heaters for the passenger and drivers' side seats and will blast you out the car when running. Both heaters have new motors and hoses. The car also has the OEM defroster. Five brand new 215 R75 15" www tires with rare Lyons wire-styled wheel covers and a fresh front end alignment. New battery. a new 80 amp alternator. comes with the OEM A/C mounts and brackets if you want to install A/C. The original tach is not installed. it comes with the car but it has been replaced by a modern digital tach which looks really close to the original. Williams Instruments can convert the original to digital operation if you wish to re-install it. The prior owner bought the car new in '62. He had the car professionally restored 12 years ago after the car had sat out in his driveway for many years. but only drove it occasionally for two years after that. putting about 1500 miles on it. All the upholstery. carpets and headliner were replaced. the body was gone through and painted with Cadillac pearl-essance 3 stage paint. The trunk is fully carpeted. The PO drove it for two years then due to a physical problem preventing him from driving anymore. he parked the car in a storage garage for 10 years. When I purchased the car I had the engine rebuilt due to its sitting for 10 years without being run and for reliability . The car runs and drive great. You can fly in and drive this car anywhere. Just keep in mind it still needs to be broken in so 60-65 MPH for the next 1000 miles is required. after that. you can run it as hard as you want. The car has a Golden Hawk hood overlay (scoop) that is vented and functions as a heat extractor to keep underhood temperatures lower. a Golden Hawk front grill ( the original comes with the car) and '64 Hawk headlight doors ( the originals come with the car). I have driven the about 1600 miles since the rebuild and it starts. uns and drives great. The only "bad" thing is the hood. The engine shop did not realize when you open or close a Hawk hood you have to pull it forward or it bends the corners up. You can leave it as-is. replace it ( all Hawk hoods from '58-61 will fit) or have it repaired. Questions? call dean 505-414-0617. I have been on ebay for 15 years. thousands of deals and sold hundreds of cars. I have maintained a superior 100% rating. I make every effort to make full disclosure and present good and bad about the cars I sell. On Jan-13-15 at 06:19:01 PST. seller added the following information:I recieved a few emails about the stock 1962 grill and headlight doors so I posted a picture of the car with those installed and how the car looked when it was removed from storeage. The wide white wall tires in the picture were dry rotted from sitting for 10 years and were replaced. If you purchase the car you will have a choice of which grill and headlight doors you want. The grill and headlight doors are rust free with no pitting. On Jan-13-15 at 14:33:26 PST. seller added the following information:To answer the several questions about the car Ive detailed the answers below: The engine was rebuilt by an old-timey rebuilder who is very familiar with studebaker engines and the special way they were set up. The fuel tank sender unit has been replaced by a brand new unit and functions perfectly. all of the instruments work properly. all three heater motors ( the passenger . drivers' and the defroster all work OK. the ignition switch and lock cylinder are brand new. the windshield wipers are electric and function perfectly. the suspension and steering are tight with no slop or loosness. he power steering works perfectly. the brakes work fine. the exhaust system was replaced 2 years ago and is in very good condition. the dome light works. the turn signals all work and cancel when the wheel returns to straight ahead. the horn works. the back up light switch and lights work fine. the headlights and tail lights all work. If you want the OEM grill and headlight doors I can re-install those on the car for you. If you do not want the hood with the hood overlay I will remove the existing hood and I can offer you a $150. 00 credit towards the purchase of a replacement hood. The engine has a new water pump and the cross over water manifold has the correct drilled and tapped fitting needed to install a/c. At my altitude ( nearly 6000 feet) the compression is 125 PSI. cold idle oil pressure is 80 PSI. warm is 40 PSI. the break-in oil was changed at 500 miles again at 1000 and lastly at 1500 miles on the engine. I run Rotella Diesal oil with zinc and use zinc additive. the heads have hardened seats so no need for valve additives. I am secure in saying you could fly in and drive this car anywhere. as long as you finish breaking it in before you run it at a high speed.
