Car description

While nearly any Cobra replica will have no trouble turning heads as it cruises down the street, the elegant, well-detailed exterior of this 1965 Shelby Cobra from Backdraft Racing will keep that attention focused its way for quite some time. And, in a niche where the selection of aftermarket components makes such a marked difference, this scorcher absolutely excels. It's carrying a powerful, well-configured drivetrain, as well as an assortment of other features to provide an outstanding driving experience. Even as it's far off in the distance, this Cobra will capture your attention. It wears a seldom seen color combo, with a pair of broad tan stripes running the lengths of its black hood and deck lid. Those stripes are no decals - they're painted on and done so with precision, showing razor sharp edges and a nice consistent color. The paint is already in very good condition and a comprehensive detailing will elevate it to undisputed show quality. Many Cobras get sidelined during more challenging weather, due to their lack of a proper convertible top, but this one will encounter no such down time - it comes with a tan convertible top that's unusually well-fitted and even features a glass rear window to provide a level of visibility you rarely find in this niche. The pair of stout sidepipes broadcast a commanding exhaust note and are looking clean, and the addition of roll bars for both driver and passenger adds a welcome level of safety. You don't often come across Cobras endowed with particularly inspired interiors - maximizing their heralded power to weight ratio often seems to be a near sole focus - so the saddle colored example waiting inside the doors of this one represents a welcome departure from the norm. It's a standout in all respects - its color is the perfect complement to the exterior, the level of detail it offers is particularly impressive and the array of crystal clear VDO gauges recessed into the dash is both more extensive and better arranged than nearly any of its counterparts. This performance machine has obviously been carefully sheltered during its lifetime, so every component inside the cabin is looking its best - the low backed bucket seats are in particularly good shape. Whereas many Cobras come with soft top frames that eat up valuable interior space, there's no such issue here - you'll feel no pending claustrophobia with the top up during unforgiving weather. Very much in keeping with its performance-centric legacy, this Cobra has been configured with outstanding power and offers an accompanying agility that's rare to behold. Its Windsor powerplant began with the customary 351 cubic inches before being stroked out to a full 393 and, with a 4-barrel Holley carb, Edelbrock aluminum heads and an Edelbrock intake manifold added to the mix, it's good for well over 400 horses. Combine that output with the car's unusually light weight and the g-force producing capabilities here are substantial, to say the least. The engine teams with a Tremec 5-speed TKO500 - one of the only transmissions that can justifiably be relied upon to handle so much output over the long haul - while the 3.45 rear end lifted from a BMW combines with an overdrive gear to make this Cobra adept at handling any driving condition you might encounter and brings its power to the pavement as efficiently as possible. You'll also find BMW E36 M Series suspension components at both ends, so this Cobra's handling capabilities are world class. Power disc brakes at all four corners bring the set of 15" Halibrand wheels outfitted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires to a prompt halt. Its excellence in all respects makes this 1965 Shelby Cobra from Backdraft Racing an absolute standout. Call today!
