This beauty is rock solid—no shakes, no rattles... only the rich melody of the engine. She is perfect—completely blemish-free. You won’t find a scratch on her even armed with a good magnifying glass. Only 3,500 miles [5,600 km] logged. Engine has logged only approximately 1,800 miles [2,900 km]. She is the approaching menace in the rear-viewmirror of a Ferrari... acceleration is as downright scary as the license plate boasts. She’s a bona fide beauty!
Below you can read little history about this car.First let me talk a little about SMC the manufacturer: as far as I can tell this company was either associated with B&B Cobras and they split and created SMC or it was the other way around. The link below has some decent info on this company worth reading.http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-cobra-talk/44901-smc-replica-info.html
This Cobra was originally purchased from a gentleman in Plesanton California and it came with a 351 Ford Cleveland and a five speed tremec transmission. Once purchased the car was taken down to only a shell and then proceeded with paint and built it back up again with the parts mentioned above. The asking price is basically the cost of the engine, the crankshaft and block alone cost in excess of $10,000 dollars this alone should give a perspective buyer an idea what went into this engine. By the the time this project was completed build cost had escalated to near $140,000
Engine was initially built by Tom Lucas at FE Specialties in Sacramento and it was built with solid rollers and it made the horsepower mentioned above, great engine incredible torque and power. But I found out after driving it for a while that solid rollers and street driving don't go together well in my opinion, so I decided to replace the solid rollers with hydraulic Roller Lifters but this time since Tom Lucas was extremelybusy I decided to have that done at another great builder Bennett Racing in Haleyville, AL. This time the power output was 639 Clb Torque and 714 Hp.
