Up for auction is my 1970 Shelby GT-350 Convertible, VIN 0F03M482532. It has been in our family since 1983 when it was purchased by my father from Drexel Benton of Thomasville, Georgia with 48,000 miles on it.A rotisserie restoration was performed by my father between 1993 and 1999. My father showed it a couple times between 2000 and 2003 and only put 112 miles on it during that time. My father's health steadily declined from that point until he passed in 2008 and the car was in long term storage from about 2004 until I got it out in 2013 and started getting it ready to drive again. While my father had done a complete restoration on the body, he had not rebuilt the motor and had only installed all new gaskets/seals/fuel pump/water pump/etc., and repainted and detailed the motor. When I started working on the car in 2013 we could detect a slight knocking sound at certain RPM's in the motor although it ran fine. To make a long story short we pulled the motor and trans and had the motor professionally rebuilt to stock specs as there was excessive cylinder wall clearance. It has all the correct parts including the Autolite 4300 carb, the correct coded distributor, heat shield on the exhaust manifold, etc. It is the original motor with the VIN # stamped in it. The FMX trans had all new seals installed and was cleaned and detailed and shifts perfectly. All new brake lines, brake hoses, calipers, and correct rotors for the F60 x 15 spec front suspension were installed at this time. We also installed a new power steering slave cylinder and hoses. All in all about $6000 was spent in the last couple of years upgrading all mechanical components. The car drives nice and tight and now shows about 48,118 miles on it. Vincent Liska whom is the 1970 Shelby Registrar for SAAC has documented that this car is the only 1970 GT-350 Convertible that is Grabber Green in color so it is a 1 of 11970 Shelby. When my father originally restored the car very little sheet metal was rusted/damaged. One small floor pan section was replaced and repairs were made to the lower rear quarter panels behind the rear wheelhouses. I would say 85% of the original rear quarter panels are still present. No rocker panelor rearframe rail repairs were needed. The car was originally a Shelby Automotive Marketing Pool Caras shown on the Marti report and was then eventually sold to the first owner (T J Furlan) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL whom later sold to a Mike Ward of Florida whom sold to Drexel Bentonof Georgia whom sold to my father in 1983. I have the original red plastic ID card that was issued to T J Furlan from Shelby Automotive. The interior is all original except for the carpet and dash pad. All gauges and lights work. This car is ready to drive and enjoy as is. With a little further detailing it would be ready for concours. If you have any questions please callor text me on my cell at 586-940-2605. I am not interested in trades. All documentation/pictures of the restoration will go with the car.
