Car description |

Selling my amazing old Saab 99. I love this car, but I'm heading to Taiwan and can't bring it with me.
This was my first car, and I've spent countless hours and dollars over the past seven years, making it a fun car to drive around in the summer. It still needs some loose ends wrapped up, but is a complete, running, driving car.
This car is exceedingly rare. The 99 is one of the rarer models of vintage Saab, but this two door 99 is an early model with the very unique 1.7 liter four stroke slant four engine (rebuilt with probably the last set of NOS pistons in the world). It has many early 99 specific idiosyncrasies like the chrome bumpers, the four round headlights, the futuristic 96-style seats, and the Sonett III-style tail lights. This car is also a rare Bosch D-Jetronic, electronic fuel injected example, with a four speed manual transmission.
The body shell is in very good condition, the only serious corrosion being a few very small holes in the rockers, they are seriously minor and localized. The paint is obviously in need of a re-shoot, the original R2L red that the car came with was known for it's speedy deterioration, and needs to be completely redone. The car has never been crashed, and doesn't have any Bondo or fiberglass on it. The areas with the worst paint were coated as a stop-gap before the whole car is painted properly.
The engine was rebuilt with all new gaskets, NOS pistons, new valves, valve guides, seats, timing chain, timing chain tensioner and guides, rebuilt injectors, and million other little things to bring the old four cylinder back to life.
The original fuel tank is all gunked up so a custom made aluminum tank was built for the car. The original tank comes with the car.
The wheels that are on the car are Datsun 240Z wheels, but the original steel wheels come with the car and are in great shape.
The interior is partly taken apart but is complete and in pretty good condition. The driver's seat has brand new upholstery, and the passenger seat and rear seat are in good shape.
The car also has all new ball joints, brakes, etc., and comes with those cool, vintage Cibie fog lights. I also have a spare engine with block, rotating assembly, head, etc. as well as a spare trans, spare head, alternator, and tons of other little things which are as hard to find as the car itself.
I really like this car and it pains me to part with it, but I want it to be in the hands of someone who will invest that last chunk of time and energy into making this car the rockstar it deserves to be.
Make me an offer, giving this amazing car the good home it deserves is a higher priority to me than getting top dollar.
Thank you.
