We are proud to be selected to represent this 1969 Rolls-Royce Mulliner-Park Ward (MPW) Drop-Head Coupe (DHC) for sale after being owned by the same gentleman for the past 46 years. We love the color combination and the history associated with this example. The 46 year owner was the first authorized Rolls-Royce dealer in the state of Arizona, Max of Switzerland This DHC was a trade-in at his dealership after it was just a few years old. Since then, it was his long-time daily driver. After decades of use, he continually restored and refurbished it as needed. As you can imagine, this is the definition of a motorcar that is "dealer serviced" since it was owned by the owner of the dealer!! All the systems have been rebuilt and most of the cosmetics were updated over the years. The gorgeous Silver Mink metallic livery (Paint Code 9500691) was a bare metal repaint performed by Koach Kraft in Tempe, AZ. The no-expense spared repaint was performed in 1982 and it still looks stunning today. It is rare for motorcars to receive bare metal repaints as they are prohibitively expensive. Yet on Rolls-Royces, it is imperative to have the older paints removed as the differences in thermatic properties of the different paint types will lead to cracking. The repaint was fully documented in photos and receipts. The paint and chrome are both in very nice to excellent condition, really needing nothing. The chrome around some of the window frames show some wear from normal use. The dark blue leather interior is all original and in beautiful condition. For all its life, the front seats were protected by matching dark blue sheepskin seat covers. They were removed to show the condition of the leather, but are included with the sale. The leather has not been re-dyed or touched up and there are no splits or tears. There is the normal age related surface cracking. The wood was all redone over the years and is in very nice condition. The dark blue carpets have always been protected and are in very nice condition. The dark blue Everflex convertible top has been redone. The Rolls was transported to Southern California to have the top redone by the authorized Rolls-Royce service provider. It is in beautiful condition today. The top mechanism works, but we had to lubricate the hinge points to have them work effectively after years of not being used. The rubber seals for the top of the windows on the convertible top are original and would benefit from replacement. The clear plastic rear window is very nice. Our service staff performed a full inspection on the DHC. Mechanically, the engine has been rebuilt and all the systems have been rebuilt over time. The air conditioning is presently not working and is presently R12. We recommend converting it to R134 if it will be used in climates where air conditioning is necessary. The passenger side auto door lock is not functioning at this time. The passenger seat doesn't move forward or backward and neither seat is presently moving up or down. The MPW DHC is the predecessor of the Corniche model, and is incredibly rare. For the five years of production, the DHC represented only 100 cars produced each year. This Rolls comes with over 46 years of documentation. The total files are about four inches thick. It also comes with its books and tools. In summary, this is a completely rust-free MPW in a fabulous color combination with a great history.
