Car description

87 GTA 33k

Up for bid is a 1987 AMC Renault Alliance GTA convertible with 33k one owner miles. One of 1,029 built, most of which didn't have factory a/c like this one. No body rust, super nice undercarriage sporting the original exhaust and muffler as testimony to low miles. Original title from 1987 as well. Original top in great shape, too - soft and no tears or leaks. Paint is in great shape and all original except for the front bumper cover. Very rare factory air conditioning (functioning) and graphic equalizer, both high dollar options, the latter of which is pretty useless since the old speakers can't reproduce half the frequencies adjusted by it. But still cool by 80's standards. Powered provided by its original 2.0L fuel injected OHC 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission. Delivers 25 mpg in townand 35 highway mpg. Good history report showing no accidents. Runs and drives great.

Condition Report
ENGINE: Runs on all four cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Good battery and charging system. Starts easy and runs strong. New fuel pump and fuel injector.
TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all five forward gears and reverse with good clutch performance.
EXTERIOR: Body: Body is nearly perfect. No dents, no rust, no bondo ever. The only complaint if you want to call it that is a very slight depression near the front center of the hood that I only noticed in particular light in the garage. Exceptional for 30 years old. Paint: Paint is in great shape an all original except for the front plastic bumper cover has been repainted. There is a single rock chip in the hood, but no other notable issues. Exceptional for age. Other: Trim and emblems are intact. Plastic bumpers and header/grill panel in great shape. Windshield and all other glass are excellent - no wiper scratches or cracks. Undercarriage is in great shape - see the pics of undercarriage. Factory aluminum wheels are in near perfect shape. Convertible top is in great shape - original top that's still soft and supple with no tears or rips or leaks. Plastic rear window is mostly clear.
INTERIOR: Interior of the car is also exceptional and reflective of low miles. Carpets are in nice shape and clean, seats have no rips or tears. Door panels are perfect. Dash is perfect. Trunk is nice and clean. Only one floormat left, but you can see the plastic strands that held the original floormats. Time warp. Above average interior.
ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, horn - push on signal stalk, wipers, etc.) Very few power accessories, but power top works GREAT, hot heat and cold A/C, fog lamps, and am/fm stereo cassette/equalizer work. A/C could use a few ounces of refrigerant but is indeed cold and still running R12. These heater cores were subject to a recall and this one was replaced - paperwork included with car. The fuel gauge works intermittently. Windows are manual, but driver's window doesn't work with crank but does lift manually; other 3 windows work fine.
DRIVEABILITY: Drives out GREAT. Steering is tight and straight and suspension is tight. Brakes work well with about 30% life remaining (I think they are the originals, but they're good). Tires are older but in good shape have about 50% tread remaining on a matched set of good quality radials. Solid exhaust with no leaks. Check engine light is not lit (except at start up as it should.) Normally with a car that runs and drives this well I'd say "drive anywhere" but this being an older French car built in Wisconson and sitting for several years, I'd recommend trailering.
