Car description |
---|
1960 Renault Caravelle. This is a great looking car which was saved from a salvage yard in 2003. It was converted to a DC Electric car sometime in the 70s or 80s and is very well done. The motor is a General Electric aircraft grade starter-generator. Interior is terrific for it's age. Floors are solid throughout. Hardtop is removable. The interiot of this car is really very dry. Surface rust is present underneath the carpets but it is not soft or rusted through. The rust trouble on this car wouldn't appear so bad if the door skins weren't rotted away from debris sitting inside for decades. Rockers are pretty typical for almost 60 years old.
Car has some rust problems in the doors, some in the rockers and the front valance. Complete aside from missing trim spear on rear quarter panel and fender emblems. Both rear tires are holding air, and two fronts run flat in a matter of hours.
Batteries were filled with water and charged overnight, which allowed us to move the car about a dozen feet under it's own power, so the system is complete and operational, and will include the original charger. Count on the car needing batteries. Rear grille is bent and a crease in the rear bumper.
We do NOT have any paperwork with this car as a California salvage, but will include a proper bill of sale. The VIN numbers on these cars are actually chassis and engine numbers; being the original engine is missing then there is a chassis number located somewhere on the car but most likely you'll need to have your state assign a new vin tag to it. Many old car guys will get this... if you don't understand then this might not be the right car for you.
Car is located in Sacramento, CA and if anyone would like to come see it, just get in touch.
Car is offered entirely as-is and where is. I will require a $200 deposit within 24 hour of auction close, and the car will need to be picked up and paid for within 2 weeks. Please let me know if I can answer any specific questions.
