For sale is a very interesting vehicle from France. This 1949 Renault is a project, ut is in great physical shape. Apparently with just 34K miles on it, n 1954, t threw a rod and the engine was removed. Though the block was repaired and painted, he engine was never assembled. The original upholstery is in extraordinary condition for the age. Some surfaces are still covered with the old seat covers that have been on for 60 years. The wheels were painted a few years back and new tires mounted. Why is this vehicle so HISTORIC? Because the interior paint used was captured Nazi Africa Corp Panzer tank khaki that the French obtained when the Germans were pushed out of North Africa. Only the first few thousand Renault 4CVs were painted with this color. This vehicle is also the early specification car. Many specs were changed in 1950 and later when many more 4CVs were produced. This car has little rust, one significant. Problems are a "skipping" steering rack and a cut-out in the dash (for a radio that isn't there). Otherwise, utting the drivetrain together, oing the brakes and maybe some paint and you'd have a fabulous early unit-body, ear-engined (760cc) Renault.I also have a 1961 Renault Dauphine complete drivetrain (32hp) that could be used in place of the 19hp original engine. This drivetrain is available for $400. to the buyer of the Renault. The 4CV has a 3-spd trans on the floor. Please Note: I painted some of the surface rust with a chemical which turned black. These areas are NOT rusted through - though they may look as if they are in some of the pictures. This car would need very little body work prior to painting. Please email with questions.
