These cars ended the era of road legal high horsepower lightweight sports cars with attractive looking small bumpers. This last version of the 911 is the pinnacle of the early versions in terms of performance and handling. The 1973 911S has 190hp fueled by a sexy and powerful mechanical fuel injection system that was about to be permanently banned in the USA due to new emissions requirements. The longer stroke 2.4L engine provided more torque and the new 915 transmission eliminated all of the quirky shifting issues sometimes found on earlier transmissions, his made the 2.4L 911 much more enjoyable to drive in all conditions. The 911S in a targa body style for 1973 would be the most deluxe open top Porsche available at the time. This car was completed at the factory in April 1973 and delivered to a Grand Rapids Michigan distributor in May 1973, he early 911 first generation cars were coming to an end of production and the quality in construction was at an all time high. Production of the early long hood version of the 911 ended in July 1973. This car was originally delivered as a late 1973 USA spec 911S targa painted in Silver Metallic with a black leather interior. Options put on at the factory included leather front seats, bove the bumper fog lights, inted glass, nd wheel arch trim along with the deluxe interior and exterior trim that was standard on all 911S cars. This car was found in rural Indiana in 2012 tucked away in a garage, ever driven in the winter so it had a very low 62,000 original miles on the entire car. Every original part was on the car, very part specific to the 911S model was there, nd there were no modifications of any kind. The car had no rust on it! This is not the usual find for that area of the country but it was clear that it never traveled in snow or on salty roads so all the metal pans on the bottom were all original. When this car was found it was in unbelievable original condition but in bare metal as the 2nd owner was in the process of having the car repainted. He had difficulty with the shop doing the work so he gave up on a total restoration. A deal was made and the car was shipped Vintage Excellence in San Diego California for a comprehensive rotisserie restoration. The body was stripped to bare metal, top notch paint job was completed, nterior by worldrenownedPorsche specialist trimmers, nd the trim has perfect fit and finish. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by expert hands and the entire undercarriage was also restored to new condition using only the best parts - there is not a part on this car that was not gone through. There are no excuses with this restoration, he car we started with, he parts used, he authenticity, nd the quality of the craftsmanship is the best of the best. There are more restoration specific details on the website: VintageExcellence.comThis car has just completed 500 test miles since restoration. It was given a 500 mile service with all filters changed, il changed, alves adjusted, ylinder heads re-torqued, nd undercarriage checked for proper operation. I am proud to say this is one of the best cars I have ever built and it has proven itself with flying colors in theinitial 500 test miles put on the car. This car needs nothing and could be driven across the country tomorrow! If you are looking for the best 911S you can find then here it is, o need to take your chances with an auction win.See the other items for sale to check out the 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster we have listed.
