Car description |
---|
Fully restored and modified 1979 911 back dated to '74 Carrera RS look. Built by premier west coast Porsche fabricator John Simone.
This car was 100% dissembled down to the bare chassis with everything removed for a full nut and bolt restoration with numerous upgrades.Driven only 350 miles since completing the restoration to dial everything in. It's now pure perfection and better than it was when it left the factory! Currently garaged and covered waiting for it's new owner.
BODYOnce disassembled the entire tub was stripped of all its original paint down to bare steel including the trunk and engine compartments. The front fenders and hood were also stripped to bare metal, s were the doors, eaving only the factory undercoating in the areas needed to protect it from the elements.New Front and Rear bumpers were sculpted with subtle smooth flowing changes to resemble the original factory lines of the '74 RS then used as masters to produce new molds for producing high quality fiberglass parts. A new rear wing and deck lid combination were also sculpted into a smooth single smooth flowing one piece unit eliminating the bolt on rubber lip. New hand layed parts where then made from these molds and integrated into the body for a perfect look while still keeping the original natural flowing lines of the RS version. The Chassis and body panels were then sealed with an epoxy sealer inside and out. A Urethane based primer was applied and then all panels were block sanded to produce smooth flowing panels. Top coats were then applied beginning with another coat of epoxy sealer, ollowed by the color and clear coats (original 1974 Factory Porsche Lime Green). The paint system used was PPG Urethane base coat clear coat system, ne of the best systems in the industry. After curing for 30 days the paint was then polished to a high luster and sheen.SUSPENSION and BRAKESThe entire front and rear suspension was dissembled with all parts receiving a fresh gold CAD plating or powder coating. The brake calipers where 100% disassembled and powder coated, hen rebuilt with new pistons, eals, nd pads. Original front struts were refinished with bump steer adapters and new Bilstein Sport shocks installed. Rear shocks are Bilstein Sports as well.Upgraded Anti Roll Bars were installed front and rear with adjustable drop links to properly set the suspension pre-loading. Original rubber bushings were removed and upgraded with a firmer rubber urethane blended formula to enhance the response while also maintaining ride compliance. In addition upsized front and rear torsion bars were installed to improve the handling and work in conjunction with the anti-roll bars to achieve a balanced handling and performance package to arrive at a nice balance of performance while still maintaining ride quality.ELECTRICAL The wire harness was fully cleaned and inspected for any compromised areas. The fuse panel terminals cleaned and all relays checked for proper operation. All gages were sent out for refurbishment and functional testing. Tail light housing were dissembled, leaned, nd repainted. The H-4 head lights received the same treatment, ll new bulbs were installed along with new tail light lenses.INTERIOR Recaro seats professionally rebuilt and recovered by Autos International. Four Point harness installed and attached to custom built roll bar bolted to welded in base plates making for a clean and functional assembly. RS Carpet (also supplied by Autos International) installed along with RS door panels. A Sparco steering wheel and shift knob provides the proper look and feel during operation. Topping off the interior is a custom made carbon fiber dash cover integrating the fresh air controls while eliminating the radio for a clean semi race inspired looking functional interior.ENGINE and TRANSMISSIONThe original 3.0 Ltr engine was replaced with an upgraded 1987 Carrera 3.2 engine mated to a 915 five speed transmission with a factory DME wire harness controlling the engine. The engine and transmission were not refurbished as both are in good operating mechanical condition with approximately 45 K miles. The engine was sourced from an '86 Carrera.RECORDSI have all the original records from the previous two owners, ncluding the original factory window sticker from the dealer in California from which the car was purchased when new.DISCLOSURES In its current configuration this vehicle will not pass most smog requirements due to the installation of a modified exhaust system. Some counties in some states have reduced requirements which if registered in those locations would relax or exempt the requirement to pass smog. The car is currently registered in such a location which exempts it from requiring the use of smog reducing exhaust system. HOWEVER, he car does come with the original factory exhaust system so that it could be re-installed to bring the exhaust into compliance. The VIN and Chassis have been registered in the State of California as CARB compliant with the stock exhaust system.Buyer assumes responsibility for changing out the exhaust system.More pictures available upon request, r a link to a video.Thank You.
