Car description |
---|
The car is in excellent condition, runs, drives, stops and handles wonderfully. This one is a very early 912E - built 7/75 and is #49 of about 2100 produced only for 1 model year for US market only. Current mileage is just under 105K.
It was originally purchased at Bill Stremmel Porsche of Reno, Nevada with port of entry being San Francisco. Considering how clean and rust-free it is all over it's safe to say it was always a West Coast car. A previous owner lived in the Bay Area also and seems to have invested quite a bit into the car with lots of records. The car had its clutch done around 100K mark and got a window out thorough repaint in original color in 2006. Suspension bushings along with all sort of seals were done then as well, heads were rebuilt in 2004. Not a lot of miles were put on it since then. Most recently a fresh battery was installed and a 4-wheel alignment was performed. I have a more detailed compilation of work performed if need be.
This Porsche is in excellent condition, runs, drives, stops and handles wonderfully. Engine is stock including thermal reactors. It does seep a little oil as most aircooled cars do. Ignition has been converted to a Pertronix electronic module for reliability reasons and starts and runs great. Brakes are firm without vibration and the 923 gearbox shifts as smoothly as it should. The paint is in excellent condition although there is some minor chipping on it from road use. Underside and engine compartments are both clean and rust-free. Original ATE Cookie Cutters are very clean with great paint and tires have plenty of thread. The interior is in excellent condition, dash has no cracks and seats have no rips (that I can see). The car runs happily at freeway speeds and I would not hesitate to drive it across the country today.
Included with the car are original jack + lugnut wrench, some of the original tool kit, owner's manual, front license plate along with a bracket (not installed), a 912E service guide, all records, touch up paint, an extra Mahle oil filter and a pair of thermal reactor bypass pipes. The car passed California SMOG on 3/10 without a hitch and I have a clean title in hand so it's ready to go. The car is a tremendous amount of fun to drive but unfortunately I live in the city proper with multiple vehicles and storage is a major problem.
This is not an emergency sale. So please consider carefully before making offers, I will not accept lowballs and you'll just waste your time. However, if you have a reasonable offer to make, I'll be happy to work with you. I can also assist your shipping company if need be. Thank you.
