This is a very clean, driver quality Beck Replica Spyder which has a number of options and one distinguishing item which makes it different from most. Options include leather, badges, grab bar, grille, jack points, top mounts and most important-4WDB. The most interesting option is the 914/Type4 engine with the Raby DTM cooling system. I was told that this is a Raby engine but that may or may not be a fact and is irrelevant in that the engine was rebuilt a few years ago by a shop that specializes in air cooled Porsches. I personally spoke to the shop manager who actually did the work and his recollection was that it was a 2.0 with 103mm cylinders. Again, no documentation so take that for what it is worth. A new clutch was also mentioned and the Webers were redone. During this past winter a major service was completed which includes new master cylinder with fluid flush, a complete new fuel system including a tank cleaning, the addition of a trunk accessible fuel shut off, new filter and new AN lines to the carbs. The rear tail/brake light module was replaced and rewired and a driver accessible battery shut-off was added. This car starts, runs, handles and stops as well as any and I'll bet goes better than most thanks to the Type4. All lights, switches and gauges work as intended and although there are top mounting brackets there is no top. This car was built from a roller in Texas in 2009 and the paint is a little dull in spots hence the driver designation. It may come back with a buffing wheel, not my area of expertise. Title is a NYS transferable registration which is standard for any car previous to 1973 in NY and the car is titled as a 1955 Porsche with the vin numbers clearly visible on the rear frame rail, in the trunk and on a tag on the door jamb. As always, no test pilots. Thanks
