In 1987 the 944 S was added to the Porsche line up. The 944 S was a high performance, naturally aspirated, dual over head cam, 16 valve, 187HP version of the 2.5 liter engine featuring a self adjusting timing belt tensioner. This marked the use of the first four valve per cylinder, DOHC in the 944. Small "16 Ventiler" script badges were added on the sides in front of the side body protective moldings. Performance figures included 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) being achieved in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of232 km/h (144 mph) due to 2852 pound curb weight. It also featured Bosch Digital Motronic 2 Computer DME with duel knock sensors for improved fuel performance for the higher 10.9:1 compression ratio like the 944 Turbo, the 944S received progressive springs for improved handling, larger front and rear anti roll bars, upgraded brakes, revised transmission and gearing to better suite the2.5 L DOHC engine's higher 6800 rpm rev limit. Production of the 944S was 1987 and 1988 only with only 3312 units produced in 1987 for the U.S. market.

The original owner had this car for 28 years. It's a 3 owner car, excellent condition inside and out owned by a Porsche enthusiast, freshly updated belts and pulleys, OEM motor mounts, clutch, front engine seals, ball joints, control arm and sway bar bushings, caster blocks, water pump, thermostat, hoses and clamps, oil separator o rings and gasket, timing chain pads, gaskets, plugs, wires distributor cap and rotor, all fluids, brake pads and rotors, wheel bearings, alignment, shocks, tires, AC compressor and evaporator, clock, speakers and tires. Everything these cars need is done.
Updates per the current owners taste include; 18 inch chrome turbo twist wheels on Continental Extreme Contact tires. Momo steering wheel, yes the horn works. JVC stereo w/Bluetooth. (No wires were cut, it is a plug and play unit made for this car). Included in the sale is the original stereo, steering wheel, both sets of original keys, original gas cap key, original car cover, all original manuals, spare tire, tool kit, jack and the original 16 inch phone dial wheels which have been soda blasted and powder coated but never been mounted.
