Car description

This is one scary lightweight (2195lbs) and fast (375HP/300Tq.) Porsche 911 that took 3 years to complete. The donor car was a super clean $38K 1982 911SC Turbo clone in Grand Prix White. This is a ROW euro car VIN # WP0ZZZ91ZCS101235. I have the clean title in hand along with every single receipt for all parts and labor. The newly built 3.6 engine, tranny and suspension have just over 500 shake down miles (and counting). Here is a breakdown of what's been done to the car.

PAINT AND BODY
The paint & body work was done by Jason Hiler, owner of Porsche specialist Heritage Motorcar Restoration in Parrish,Fl. He is very well known in the 356 world and routinely does very intensive 3-5 year concourse restorations. Several of his builds have won major awards and were featured in Excellence magazine. Jason worked on my car for over 15 months and it was worth the wait. He stripped the car to bare metal, all glass and body panels were removed. I spent over a grand on OEM rubber seals alone. We did new OEM door sills, striker plates and door throws. I had a reproduction VIN sticker imported from Poland (Car-bone) because Porsche no longer makes them. We used OEM Porsche Glasurit paint products and finished the car in Miami Blue (M5C) paint. The pictures do not show the true color of this car, it must be seen in person to appreciate.
Some of the major metal work Jason did includes deleting the sunroof and all of its components. He cut out a section of the front tub and welded in a Elephant Racing RSR replica diverter plate behind the front mounted oil cooler. This creates a clean downward exit for air flow and greatly enhances cooling. He filled the antenna hole, removed the euro side blinkers, and welded in a modified painted Patrick Motorsports roll bar. He had to remove the rear steel Turbo flares because they were previously lap welded onto the car, which eventually will rust. He then butt welded the flares on which is the right technique to use. Seam sealer, primer and a bed liner type material were used on the inner fenders to protect from corrosion/debris. The front fenders turned out to be OEM Turbo fenders and are PERFECT! There was no rust anywhere on the car except small spots in the lower corners of the windshield frame which we fixed. The car is rust free, top to bottom.
We shed allot of weight by using fiberglass body panels wherever possible. The hood, bumpers, ducktail and tail light housings are all fiberglass. We also deleted the rocker panels and torsion bar covers (everything counts). We did lightweight non power 993 mirrors. Other exterior details include new front Bosch turn signal units, euro taillight lenses and a new OEM rear center reflector. The headlamps are HID Xenon units from Flat6illumination. We also did a new OEM gas cap, silver hood crest and Rennline tow hooks welded to the chassis (fitted through the bumpers). The windshield wipers were flipped to the passenger side.We installed a new windshield and OEM gasket. The windshield is the only glass in the car that is not OEM Porsche/Sekurit.

*My only regret on this build is not doing a full rotisserie media blast, dip and paint of the entire shell/chassis. I was initially going to keep the Grand Prix White and avoid the added time and expense by changing colors. My buddy talked me into going with a bright color at the last moment, literally days before the car went to paint. So we did not paint the front inside trunk area (its still GP White). A nice trunk carpet kit would cover this if wanted. We did paint the engine bay when the motor was out.

INTERIOR
The interior was completely gutted and everything in the cabin is new. The seats are lightweight fiberglass fixed Corbeau FX1 Pro seats. They are bolted to custom fabricated steel brackets welded to the floor. The seats do not move but could be remounted to fit anybody. We sent the seat inserts to Patrick Motorsports to be recovered in classic hounds tooth fabric. We used 5 point Corbeau camlock harnesses. We used a black lightweight RS carpet kit and RS vinyl door panels w/red leather pull straps. We did a black vinyl headliner that is beautifully installed and 100% flawless. We used Rennline brushed aluminum pedals and rebuilt the pedal cluster w/new bronze bushings. Other Rennline upgrades include aluminum door lock knobs, aluminum parking brake handle, aluminum foot rests, and aluminum shift joint cover. It has a halon 2.5LB. fire extinguisher between the seats. I did a roof mounted rear view mirror. We hard wired in a Valentine 1 radar above the rear view mirror. The factory cigarette lighter port works (phone charger). There is a fuel pump cut off switch wired to the factory sunroof toggle button. We did a new OEM ignition switch (electrical portion) & 2 new OEM keys.
For steering and shifting we used a Rennline steering wheel quick release hub and classic MOMO Prototipo wheel. I has the upgraded nylon steering column support bushing. Shifting upgrades include a WEVO short shifter, WEVO lightweight shift knob, WEVO precision shift coupler and WEVO semi solid engine/tranny mounts.

I sent the instrument gauges to Ralph at Hollywood Speedometer in California. He refurbished all (5) gauges to the tune of $3K. Everything was recalibrated and done to my specs. He did a 10K Miami Blue tach, Heuer clock face, 220MPH speedometer, odometer reset to zero, numerical temp gauge, bright orange painted needles, new bezels, new glass and LED strips around each gauge. Everything works and looks PHENOMINAL! Thanks Ralph, your the best!
More weight saving measures were done to the interior including rear seat delete, removal of all sound proofing/insulation, spare tire delete, radio delete w/delete panel and every part related to the AC system was removed minus the dash air vents. We kept the power windows (work perfect), ashtray and locking glove box. Other then that, the interior has 2 seats, steering wheel and a shifter with 3 pedals. Very basic with NO DISTRACTIONS! The dash board is crack free and PERFECT! The interior shows as 100% BRAND NEW!

WHEELS/TIRES AND BRAKES
The wheels are Fikse 3 pc. forged ZF (Zuffenhaus) wheels. These are the same wheels used on the $500K Singer cars. These are hands down the best lightweight Fuch replica wheels money can buy! They use OEM Fuch center caps and OEM lug nuts. These took 3 months to complete and are 17x9 fronts, and 17x11 rears. We did the barrels/faces in satin black and center cap delete. Your looking at $4500 for a set of these wheels! The tires are new Continental Extreme 245/40/17 fronts and 285/40/17 rears. We did the Continental tire stickers for a little added pop.
All 4 brake calipers were powder coated red with black "Porsche" script and rebuilt with new pistons, seals, and hardware. We used new Zimmerman cross drilled rotors, Pagid orange race pads, ATE type 200 racing fluid and Goodridge G-Stop steel braided brake lines. The car only weighs 2195lbs, so the factory SC brakes with upgrades are more then adequate. Big brake kits are overkill on lightweight cars and add unsprung weight.

SUSPENSION
I worked with Clint from Rebel Racing Products to build a brand new track ready adjustable suspension. We used the following parts.

FRONT SUSPENSION935 style strut X brace (brushed aluminum), OEM ball joints, OEM wheel bearings, OEM turbo tie rods, Rebel Racing adjustable bump steer kit w/dust boot, front, Rebel racing bushing set w/spherical mounts, Rennline sealed monoballs, hollow Tarrett adjustable through body sway bar, sway bar chassis adaptor kit, sway bar reinforcement kit, Sander front hollow torsion bars (22MM). I supplied the OEM Boge strut assemblies to Rebel Racing for a complete Bilstein style conversion including raised the spindles (32MM), gusseted, added brake line supports, welded on double sheer lower bump steer supports and new Bilstein sport strut inserts . I powder coated the A arms flat black.
REAR SUSPENSIONOEM wheel bearings, Rebel racing adjustable spring plates, Rebel Racing spring plate bushings, Bilstein sport shocks, Tarrett adjustable sway bar, WEVO sway bar mounts, Sander rear hollow torsion bar (30MM), Rebel Racing RSR sealed monoballs, powder coated silver trailing arms.
The suspension was recently installed, corner balanced and aligned by Speed Syndicate here in St. Petersburg, Fl. The car tracks very straight and grips like nobody's business.

THE ENGINE!
This is a bespoke 3.6 twin plugged monster built by master engine builder Mike Bruns who has over 40 years of air cooled experience. He worked at JB Racing in Florida for many years. Google his name and see what you come up with. He knows air cooled engines like the back of his hand and is a go to guy for knowledge in the Porsche community. I wanted a reliable motor with at least 300HP. His plan was to build a 3.6 using my current SC case. Some of the engine highlights include a new GT3 crank from Brumos, custom Pauter rods w/ARP rod bolts, GT3 rod bearings, custom Carillo pistons, custom Elgin cams, OEM GT3 oil pump, fuel labs fuel filter, OEM steel head studs, JB racing twin plug distributor, Moroso 8MM spark plug wires, twin MSD 6AL ignition, 2 MSD blaster coils and new 50MM PMO carb kit. Bill at X-Treme cylinder heads did the head work on the factory SC heads. Obviously all the normal "wear and tear" parts you replace when rebuilding an engine were done. The motor was broken in and carbs tuned on the engine dyno at JB Racing.
We did some cosmetic upgrades to make the engine look as good as it runs. The engine/tranny cases were media blasted to "as new" condition. The upper/lower valve covers, fan housing, Rennline alternator strap, andtiming chain covers were powder coated flat black. The fan was done in bright silver. We sourced a beautiful carbon fiber engine shroud and engine fuse panel cover. We did braided lines with AN fittings wherever possible. We used a Rennline engine carrier, WEVO engine/tranny mounts, Elephant Racing finned oil lines, new OEM thermostat and front mounted SETRAB oil cooler. We run Joe Gibbs DT50 synthetic air cooled high performance motor oil. The battery is a lightweight 9lb. Braille battery and the car has a lightweight high torque starter. I have a trickle charger that comes with the car.
The motor specs are 100MM bore, 76.4 stroke and 10:4 compression. The engine ended up making 374.2HP at 7200RPMs and 297.1TQ. at 5900 RPMs. on the engine dyno at JB Racing.

THE TRANSMISSION
The tranny is a 915 5 speed. Mike Bruns went completely through it. It received an new gasket set,1-4 sliders,1-5 synchro's, new case studs, 3-4 spider hub, new pinion/main shaft lock nuts, new set up shims, 928 ring gear bolts and a Guard 40/60 limited slip differential. The bell housing and gear housing were sent to Roger at California Motor Sports to be machined/sleeved and new bearings pressed in. We used OEM bearings throughout the transmission, WEVO internal bearing retainer, WEVO billet side cover and larger differential carrier bearing. The SC axels were rebuilt and repainted. We run Swepco 201 gear lube. Mike Bruns had the engine/tranny for 16 months. That's not a knock on him, that's a testament to the time, money and effort these kind of projects take.
EXHAUST
We chose new stainless S-Cargo replica headers and a stainless Dynomax muffler. Mike Bruns did a comparison test with the Dynomax muffler and a GT3 cup muffler on the engine dyno. The Dynomax lost a very small amount of HP compared to the GT3 cup muffler. So we went with the Dynomax due to cost. I recently had the muffler and all its fabricated pipes including exhaust tips ceramic coated flat black.

SUMMARY
This is a fun to drive turn key raw, no frills street legal race car that has been modernized and updated with the best parts money can buy. It pulls like a freight train and stops on a dime. The steering, shifting and suspension are fantastic and responsive just as you would imagine considering the build quality and parts used. The motor pulls hard throughout the rev range and the exhaust sounds incredible. At the same time, the car is scary and will KILL you if you do not give it your complete attention and respect at all times. Its not for the faint of heart! Its a true one off build and you can expect allot of attention if that's what your after. The car is very bright, loud and BEAUTIFUL! Strangers young and old will want to stop, take pictures and talk about the car. If you want to fly under the radar, this car is not for you. This car will keep up with or flat out smoke most modern day cars including 964/993/996/997/stock 930 Turbos and others. The power to weight ratio is incredible! Don't believe me, come find out, Im always up for a drive!
