The actual VIN for this vehicle iswp0zzz94zdn403944. It has a non-standard VIN because it was imported from Europe.
BARN FIND: In 1983 a Major in the U.S. army watched as his 944 rolled out of the German factory. This vehicle was made for European use & not available in the states. Options are listed on the original buy sheet (see pic). This 944 was driven in Germany for it's first few years, then shipped stateside in 1993 when the soldier was ordered back to the U. S. All paperwork of maintenance history & repairs were kept & comes with the car.
I found the car after it had been sitting for 7 years. The owner drove it daily until he got too ill to drive & parked it. It appears to be all original other than the stereo. The engine is not frozen. The person that had it, unfortunately, put a battery in it & turned it over w/o checking the gas tank the day I went to look at it. It turned over fine, didn't start and I had him stop cranking. The tank had very little gas in it & that gas had gone bad. You can smell that kerosene smell when you open the tank & sniff. I'm thinking that the gas tank & fuel injectors will have to be cleaned before putting fresh gas in.
The leather seats are in great shape for originals. The gauges are all intact. 5-speed shifter operates freely when the clutch is depressed. The dash is cracked badly (pic).
The body is in good shape. The spot on the front left quarter shown in the pic is the only dinged area. The paint has minor scratches on it as expected for a car of this age. It comes with the original black Porsche wheels (price them). This is a great find for someone ready to own & restore rare Porsche!
