1986 PORSCHE 944 NA(BEING SOLD WITHOUT FUCHS WHEELS)
I purchased this car 10+ years ago as a project, which I am now unable to complete. Verysolid, never a touch of rust, absolutely zero rust. After purchasing removed entire interior (burgundy/wine), all glass, lights, doors/lids, bumpers, mirrors, weatherstripping and hardware for a complete respray in its original color as you see pictured. Sanded down, blocked, and sprayed with Glasurit. No expense spared on materials or labor.
Motor is without issue, runs smooth with no abnormal noises. Factory maintenance schedule has been followed, including changing of the timing belt. New starter was installed about one year ago.
Car was reassembled with factory parts sourced fromPorsche parts retailers or from PCA swap meets (Hershey, Stoddard).
Carpet is 100% original Porsche. I would attend the swap meets and purchase each factory original piece individually if a complete kit was sub-par. One year I'd find the passenger floor, another the rear cargo area, and so on till I had a complete factory set that wasn't sun damaged. Included is a complete Lloyd floor mat set (front, rear and cargo area) that has never been stepped on. Only removed from the box for photos.
The seats are 100% original, not recovered, not resprayed. Once again, I'd purchase a seat, and salvage either the seat back or seat bottom, as needed, to build one good seat. I believe the passenger seat has a seam that has given way about an inch, to an inch and a half. It should be reflected in one of the pictures.
Dash top, is an original Porsche piece that has no cracking. There is no coverlay. Both door cards/panels are exceptional, as is the factory steering wheel.
Power sunroof, and windows operate as they should. There is no radio for the car, but Blaupunkt speakers included. Car has not been smoked in, and no accident damage. The front valance/spoiler has a couple of small cracks from loading/unloading off the trailer. If you want a better valance/spoiler, I have a refurbished one in my other auction.
Factory sunroof bag included, as well as a rear factory wiper motor and wiper arm as pictured. All bits that are pictured are included, minus the Porsche FUCHS wheels.
New Interstate battery installed. If you look at the picture with the rear wiper arm, you'll see that I'm including OEM headlight washer nozzles if you'd like to add them. It was something I was going to do, but didn't start/finish.
Car is for sale minus the wheels as stated, or factory Phone Dials could be added for $750. If you have your own wheel set, then problem solved.
Modifications:Catalytic converter removed, exhaust pipe welded in. Great sound.Short shift kitWeltmeister throttle camK&N air filter
Needs attention:At certain RPM's there is a bearing hum. Not at all speeds or RPM's but usually at 45MPH or higher. A hum or a pulsing, I cannot determine if its source is a torque tube bearing or a throwout bearing. I've driven the car without issue, but haven't had the time or garage to do the teardown and repair. If you depress the clutch, the noise goes away if that helps you determine the source. No vibration, clutch is fine, and very strong. Great power through the torque band, but there is a noise present.
Very, very close to being finished. Hopefully someone with more time can put a weekend into this car and make it 100%. I'm sad to see it go with being this close, but I have no choice.
In regards to the wheels, I am keeping the FUCHS that are pictured on the car, and have noted several times that they will not be sold with the car. I'm hoping that a Porsche person, will want this car and will have a set to get the car home. If not, I have a set of Phone Dials with tires that I could include for an additional $750.
Questions welcomed, if you would like more pictures, I am happy to forward. Following the auction, if you need a specific length of time in which to get the car, I can fully work with you. Currently the car is sitting in a secured garage, covered and waiting for a new home. Once the auction ends, the car will continue being garaged till the new owner can pick it up. Three layerwaterproof car cover included.
Best of luck and happy bidding.
