Car description |
---|
This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa's factory color is the very rare and attractive Kiln Red Metallic. Kiln Red Metallic was an extra cost optional color and was only available for the 3.2 Carrera during the 1984 production year. Interior is original Champagne Leather with rare optional full leather sport seats. Other factory options include steering wheel with elevated hub, Blaupunkt Monterey radio, 16 inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels, automatic heater control, cruise control and front and rear spoilers. One doctor owned for 28 years with the odometer showing approximately 67k miles. Carfax shows no accidents. Taken out of storage three years ago with major service completed and documented (including fuel tank cleaned, new fuel injectors, new temp sensor, new ignition wires, new spark plugs, flushed brake system, new brake calipers and rotors and more). Original owners manual and toolkit are present and included.
This Carrera was factory ordered, at extra cost, with the very rare Kiln Red Metallic color (L811). While a good portion of the paint measures as original, a $1500 paint repair was recently completed due to a scratch on the driver side fender and door. See paint meter photos in gallery below and note that factory paint thickness is higher for metallic paints. The original body metal shows no rust and is straight with a few minor dings and some paint touchups. Body panel gaps are excellent and all body seals are present. The optional 16" Fuchs alloy wheels wear three year old tires. Rebuilt brake calipers and new brake rotors were installed less than 100 miles ago. Four Koni shocks were installed @ 56k miles. The interior is upholstered in it's original Champagne leather with contrasting dark brown upper surfaces. Factory ordered rare leather sports seats are installed with the most wear showing on driver side outer bolster as shown. The original leather dash shows some slight warping and a few blemishes, but has no cracks. Rear seats and speaker panel are very nice with no fading or rips. Photos show no rust in the front and rear floors, with the floor mats pulled back. Targa top shows one small repair, but has no rips. All instrumentationisin working order, besides the clock. The odometer presently indicates 67,270 milesand the mileage is documented in it's service history file. Odometer was repaired in March 2018 due to prior owner pressing trip buttonat 67,135 miles, while driving. An aftermarket CD player is presently installed in the dash, but the original Blaupunkt Monterey cassette radio is included. A/C is functional, but needs recharging. Fresh air blower, power windows and horn are functional. The original 3.2 liter engine (*64E01399*) was rated at 207HP when new and runs strong with no evidence of oil leaks. According to the son of the third owner, the engine was fully rebuilt prior to his father's passing, but the documentation could not be located. Prior to our purchase, the prior owner's experienced Porsche mechanic stated that the engine does show evidence of a rebuild. The original 915 transmission (type 915/68, 74E01358)shifts well with new shift bushings recently installed. Documented service from 2016 to 2019 includes the following:
-new tires (205/55R16 in front and 225/50R16 in the rear)-flush brake hydraulic system-new brake rotors and rebuilt brake calipers-new fuel injectors-new cylinder head temp sensor-r&r speedometer-fan belt and wiper blades-ignition wires and spark plugs-fuel tank cleaned-new battery-hood and decklid struts replaced-throttle switch position adjusted-professional repaint completed on driver side fender and door-new shift bushings
Service records from 1988 to 1997 document ride height set and suspension aligned, new oil lines, new Koni shocks installed @ 56k miles, oil and filter changes, new targa top vinyl and headliner. Clean title, original owner's manual and documented service history file spanning 1988 through 2019 are included. The CarFax report (see scan in gallery) shows no accidents, but indicates an exceeds mechanical limits due to the third owner's wife incorrectly recording the odometer mileage as 1 mile, while transferring title into her name in 2015 after her husband passed away. Fortunately, the service history file accurately documents the mileage history with specific records as follows:
06/09/89 - 51,953 miles05/21/90 - 56,583 miles12/19/90 - 57,447 miles02/18/92 - 59,517 miles04/23/93 - 62,055 miles03/30/94 - 63,437 miles07/19/96 - 65,695 miles05/05/97 - 66,443 miles02/22/18 - 67,135 miles (note owner fell ill and car was mostly stored from May '97 to Feb '18)
