Car description

Thank you for taking a look at another unique piece of fiveninedesign inventory. Here at fiveninedesign, we strive to offer some of the most unique and rare vehicles on the market globally. In layman's terms, if we are selling it, it is special. This 1980 Porsche 930 Turbo is every ounce of special. A long term project of ours, and a car that went through a decade long overhaul, we are proud to be able to offer this car to the public for the first time. If you are reading this ad, then you already know the provenance and background of the 930 Turbo, a car that is hailed as one of the greatest performer's of the 70's and 80's, and a staple in any investment quality collection today. To see these cars skew from the Museum Rotted, underused status that most of them live in is rare. To see one that has been thoughtfully modified and upgraded is very rare. This 1980 930 Turbo is an example of a car that has been completely transformed into a Backdate Hot Rod. You will not see another backdate creation like this, and rest assured that unless a Singer shows up to your Porsche meet, you will have the best looking and most visually appealing Porsche there. Honoring the famous 911 RSR, this RSR Turbo recreation is surely one for the record books.

This Swiss 930 Turbo originally wore Light Blue Metallic from the factory, and has been repainted in the same color which adds to the fact that it isn't just a color changed hot rod. The original color works so well on a car with these hips, and really is one of the highlights of the vehicle. An ALL STEEL backdate was performed on the car, as well as the stock hood extension (to Long Hood), were done to not have to hack up the car like most backdate creations. These upgrades, along with the RSR front bumper, and ducktail, create one of the most beautiful 911's that we have ever seen. Turbo Rocker Panels give it a nice flare, and from the rear, the turbo and exhaust system subtly hang from the rear bumper to let you know that this car still means business. To further make this backdate unique, window frames from a 1968 911 were installed including the working rear window pop outs. The chrome trim adds a nice touch to such a James Bond'ish machine. The brightwork on the car is in great shape with little to no pitting, and the car shows very nicely with little chips and patina to prove to people that it is a real, driven, high performing car. The vehicle rolls on 15x9 and 15x11 Fuch Designed wheels, which are mounted on Michelin TB15 Racing tires. This aggressive combination gives this 930 Turbo a period correct look that most hot rod builds, custom backdates, and outlaws don't possess. Another unique perk of this car is the fact that it is a no sunroof vehicle. Another fitting touch to nod to the famous RSR. The finish work on the car is as you see it in the pictures below. The car has been professionally done, and while it isn't perfect, it surely checks all of the right boxes.

The next special area of this project where no stone was left unturned was the gorgeous Bespoke interior. Finished in a gorgeous Rust and Black Leather combination, no color interior would work better with the Light Blue Metallic than this. The scent of Italian leather still oozes into your nostrils as soon as you stick your head in the car, and the tones just grab your full attention quickly. Rather breath taking honestly. The seats are GT Classics that are finished in Full Leather with gorgeous Rivet Work to mimic the looks of a Singer Design Seat. The seat backs are finished in Obsidian Black to not take away from the already overpowered interior, while adding a touch of modernism to the interior. Holding you into the seats are a set of REPA Italian Harnesses, which once fitted are very easy to use. The stock seatbelt's and receptacles were also left untouched. The door panels were replaced with Full Leather RS Door Panels Berber Carpet and Period Correct Coco Mats complete the look to remind yourself that you are in a vintage car! RENNLine Pedals and Pedal Plates were installed in the car, along with a correct MOMO Prototipo Steering Wheel and RENNLine Gauge Surrounds. Upon opening the door, custom Turbo door sills were installed. A Balsa Wood Shift Knob was installed to honor vintage Porsche's, and the earth tones just match perfectly. Another striking feature of the interior is the roll bar. A gorgeous custom made roll bar is always a plus, but it is a major plus when it is hand stitched in the matching leather interior. Attention to detail is key, and this interior was thought out near perfectly.

Mechanically, this car is ready to thoroughly enjoy! We had the Porsche dealership go through the car, and address any areas of concern, which there weren't many, but the car has been a decade long project with little mileage during that time period. The brake calipers were rebuilt to ensure they weren't sticking, as well as two new wheel bearings, and front repacking. All fluids were flushed and changed, and the car is turn key, with no electric draws, no major leaks, and no mechanical hiccups. It makes boost as it should, and the rebuilt transmission shifts phenomenally. With under 30,000 ORIGINAL miles, the car has been maintained correctly, and in a climate controlled garage for all of it's restored life. We added new Headers to the vehicle as they are more visible than on a standard 930 Turbo, and Stainless steel is more visually appealing to the untrained eye. The rest of the car besides the exhaust system is OEM Stock, and it does not have any upgrades, or modifications, nor does it need it. This car is VERY fast for a vintage car, and requires you to be on your best behavior at all times!

Overall this is a very honest, passion project that is ready to be passed on to it's next caretaker. This is not a car for everyone. Purists may gawk at it, and rightfully so, it isn't everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I think it is one of the most beautiful 911's we have ever come across, and it is apparent when looking at the detailed pictures that we took, that it was well taken care of, and not just slammed together in a hurry. We are open to PPI's and inspections, and the car should pass with no issues. It is too much to write about, but should you want to discuss this car in further detail please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
