Car description |
---|
1978 Porsche 924 light weight, street legal auto cross and track car, runs and drives great. Modified with stripped out interior, roll bar, battery disconnect, hood pins, tow hook, front strut tower brace, large sway bars, bigger brakes, fuchs 7 & 8 by 15 wheels and Falken track/street tires, 924 gt style rear flares and 944 front valance and fenders. The engine has sport exhaust and dual dellorto carburetors, and it sound like it also hasperformance cams etc.
More pictures available by request.
This Porsche has a 4 speed manual transmission and it shifts great, the transmission and clutch are very good. It does seem to have some kind of limited slip, you can feel it hooking up both wheels at low speed and it really helps the performance in the corners during spirited driving.
The paint looks shiny and nice but it appears to be an older repaint with touched up paint chips; it is certainly good enough for a track car but is not perfect. It is painted the factory original color called copper metallic. The 944 nose and fenders are guards red.
I drove this car twice this summer at Portland International Raceway during track days and it did great and was so much fun! I was able to get up to about 95 mph in the straight away with plenty of rpms left over, in other words not even close to red line. This 924 is peppy but not super fast in as straight line, it does handle amazingly well in the corners and the brakes are phenomenal. This Porsche would also make a great auto cross car and or fun street driver.
This car starts right up and drives great. The only issue and it is more of a minor annoyance is that there is a squeak from the rear end going over bumps, I think it is the torsion bar or sway bar bushings, maybe they just need lube or they may need replacing? I suspect someone used stiff race style bushings. Speaking of that the ride is sporty/firm but still quite comfortable on the street.
I got this car the way it is, I did a few minor modifications and improvements such as fix all the lights and the horn. I added new old stock wiper arms, tachometer, door panels, hella battery disconnect switch and new reproduction rear gt flares and nice used 944 front valence and fenders. The other work and modifications to this 924 were done years ago by a gentleman in California who is now deceased and I don’t have any records on the car, just an old auto cross inspection sticker in the windshield. Speaking of windshield the one in this 924 is nice and it has a Porsche triangle P logo and is almost certainly original. The mileage on the odometer is 83,342 and the odometer does not work so the actual mileage is unknown.
I have a clean Oregon title in my name. The license plate shown in the pictures is a special plate for Oregon and I intend to keep it and use it on another car. This Porsche is located in Portland, OR 97217. This car is 40 years old and is being sold “as is” with no warranty.
