Selling this 1963 Porsche 356B 1600 S Karmann coupe that has been with the current owner in Redwood City, California for the past 6 years.
It is believed that there are only two previous long term California owners from Hayward and San Martin, California. It was owned for 30 years by second owner.
The car is finished in Signal Red with black interior. The car has received one prior repaint in the factory color. This 356 still has its blue and yellow California license plates. Registration card from 1979 confirms the same plate.
It is reported that the car has the correct matching numbers motor (704253) 616/12 flat four and 4 speed manual transmission (59284).
The motor was rebuilt in 1990 by German Competition Motors in Hayward, California. Work includes motor rebuild, big bore kit, overhaul carburetors, fuel pump and more.
Full records and receipts of service history is included along with old registrations cards dating back to 1979.
The car shows 99,277 miles on the odometer. The car has been consistently garaged and well cared for. A recent repair to fuel petcock, fuel filter, and fuel hose by Burlingame Motors. In addition a new 6v battery was just installed 4/18. Car still has its original 6v system.
Brake linings, brake lines, brake seals, steering damper were serviced at 96,395 miles. The car runs and stops very well. The fuel tank was replaced at 92,249 miles by same mechanic German Competition Motors.
The body is finished in Signal Red (6211). The paint is very clean and presentable overall. There are some paint chips and nicks from regular use. Drivers door edge has been chipped and touched up as seen in pics. Panel gaps are a nice fit and don't show any irregularities. Windows and rubbers are in excellent shape.
The factory Porsche wheels are in excellent condition and wheels are wrapped with Yokohama tires size 185/70/15.
Rust is present in a few areas- front battery tray area, longitudinals, and inside wheel housing corner in front of passenger rear wheel. See pics. Patch panel parts are available thru various Porsche parts sellers as these are common rust prone areas.
The car comes with the factory tool kit, owners handbook, jack and lug wrench. The factory radio in the dash was replaced years ago and the factory radio is included with the sale.
