Car description |
---|
This car is an original California car with all original panels except the battery box floor, which was professionally replaced because battery acid had eaten some holes in it.The CoA lists the car as originally red with black interior. About three years ago the paint was completely stripped down to bare metal and the car was repainted in aquamarine metallic blue. The underside was also stripped and undercoated. No evidence of any wreck damage or repair was found. The interior was redone in a wine red and a new black top was installed. This work was done in Costa Mesa, CA.
The car is all numbers matching except the engine which is a correct 1957 engine. The engine was balanced and the displacement was upped to 1720cc. The flywheel was lightened and the carburetors were replaced with Solex 40PBIC Super carburetors which were rebuilt by 356 Carburetor Rescue. A new clutch was balanced and installed.
The brakes were completely rebuilt along with the transmission. All of the original instruments were restored by Palo Alto Speedometer. The mileage is believed to be original because of the straight rust free condition of the body and the fact that the car retains its original instruments, fuel tank and fuel level sending unit. The car is ready for rallying, concours or driving for pleasure. It has been driven less than 1000 miles since the restoration. I have owned the car since March, 2011
