Selling my 1989 944 S2 clone. While it does not have the 3.0L S2 engine, it looks like an S2 in every way. There is a long history with this vehicle. The car was originally sold by Jason Gonzalez of R7 restorations back in 2013 to Joe Sharp. Joe was very active in the 944 Flussig community and a moderator on 944online as well. He passed away in early 2015. I purchased the car from his sister in early 2016 who was selling off his estate. I quickly began a restoration on the car after I got it home. Fast forward to now and the car has been sitting for the last 6 months in a heated garage underneath a car cover. With a house, wife, 2 kids and multiple other projects, I'm just out of steam on the 944 at this point. I would say the car is 80% of the way to being completely restored. It just needs someone that knows these vehicles and has some time to devote to it.
I did all the timing components along with a new radiator and hoses when I first got the car. It also received a very high quality PPG respray about a year ago. The paint and lines on this car are near perfect and I have over $5k into prep and paint alone; That price was with me helping a bunch with the heavy sanding and prep work to get the price down! This is absolutely a show quality paint job. I also have additionally replaced almost all of the body gaskets on the car which is a timely and expensive process.
Here is some additional info: Suspension and brakes are all good to go. The brakes were completely gone through, rebuilt and calipers coated. The 944 was last out mid/early summer when I took it out for a 5 mile drive. On the last drive I believe the A/C compressor was making some noise, so I have a good used replacement that I got from Just Joshing Porsche 944 recyclers. This may or may not be the case as I also noticed the power steering fluid was low when I got back from the drive and believe that It could have just been the power steering pump making noise from being low on fluid. The car always had a cold start issue from the day I picked it up in Maryland. After starting the car on cold start you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal to keep it going for the first 30 seconds or so, after it switches off of cold idle circuit, its good to go. It's very strong for an NA and pulls really well. Had it up to very high speeds around sustained Pennsylvania high-way bends with no issues when I was driving it back when I picked it up in Maryland (800 mile trip).
The suspension is set-up extremely well. It has Koni/Bilstein suspension, adjustable in the front and leveled in the back. The car is 3 clicks down in the front and an inch in back. The car also has 225/50s all around for a squared set-up. I flew to Maryland with my wife to pick the car up and drive it back to Chicago. We made it back without any issues until the Alternator bracket sheared off 10 miles away from home and threw the accessory belt. Thankfully we made it home on battery power. The alternator and tensioner rod were also replaced when we did all the timing components.
I put a new battery in it when the paint was done, it held a charge for about a week before it became apparent that there is some sort of electrical draw. Again, could be something super simple, just haven't had time to look at it. I've had It sitting with the negative battery terminal off and hooked it up just a few days ago in which it came to life on the first crank. It will need a radio deck as the one that was in it was bad. I have a very nice set of Alpine SPS-406 front speakers that go along with the car as well but are not installed. I was going to weld up a custom stainless cat-back exhaust on it. I have stainless steel mandrel bent piping and stainless steel muffler that will work beautifully for it that will go along with the car.
Other than that, I would go through the vacuum lines and look at the fuel system to make sure its 100%. All the timing components were done along with a brand new German Behr radiator and hoses when I first got the car. What it really needs is for someone to love it and devote some time to it like I first did. Unfortunately time has become a very rare commodity for me and I just don't have time to dedicate to it. I've dumped a ton of time and money into the car to bring it to where it is today, anyone who has seen it in person is baffled by how nice the paint and lines are on the car.
The wheels are original Porsche D90 16X7 front and 16x8 rear powder coated in white. They will fetch $1000-1200 to the right buyer. The seats in the car are near perfect. It has a very nice Luisi wooden steering wheel. Euro fog lights which are a good chunk of change as well. Porsche script door handles too. Original Porsche S2 front bumper, fenders and rear valence. The rear bumper has also been shaved for an ultra-clean look.
Here are the notes from the 2.5L (Yes is has a 2.5L motor in it, not the original 2.7)motor build back in 2013 done by Jason Gonzalez at R7 racing & restorations:
* New Glyco rod bearings
* New Glyco main bearings
* New OEM Porsche rings
* The cylinders were Sonnen honed with soapstone
* New head gasket
* Fresh head from IDM with turbo springs and a valve job
* New water pump
* Fresh timing belt, rollers and seals.
* Fresh AOS and oil cooler.
* New Sachs clutch kit.
* Fresh vacuum.
* New Mahle fuel filter and oil filter
* New air filter in front of all of the top end from the 2.7L - intake, AFM, TPS, throttle body, vacuum & O2
* Reman'd and warranted 077 DME Rebuilt motor has 10k on it.
It received a fresh clutch at the same time. If you are looking for a nice show car/very nice driver, this has the potential for it no doubt. This would also be ideal for someone looking for a top quality chassis for a high end LS swap project. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

A few things to add from questions I've received thus far:
The car has late model 2-piece tubular headers (Best flowing of the N/A 944 factory headers) which I installed during the timing belt job.
The catalytic converter is still installed and a 2 bolt stainless flange is welded to the mid section. It is ready for the cat-back to be fitted and fabricated. The exhaust system received all new gaskets and bolts during this time.
I also forgot to mention that I have an IA (Innovative Autosports) performance EPROM chip that will come with the car as well. (Not installed)
Additionally, feel free to make an offer on the car if you feel inclined!
Thanks!
