Car description

1959 Porsche 356A Cabriolet with Kardex shows that the car is matching numbers with its factory affixed numbers on engine, transmission, and all panels- both doors, hood and engine lid as well as 4 correct date matched chrome wheel and hubcaps.
*Long time ownership in North Carolina from 1965 to 2015 with 2 inch binder of documentation and receipts for service over the years. Excellent gaps on all panels, solid original floors and all closing panels.
*Recent engine and transmission out for disassembly and inspection. Leak down test done on engine shows excellent with all cylinders at 95%; transmission shifts nicely in all 4 forward gears and in reverse. New clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing were installed. Re-seal on engine with new pulley and flywheel seal, all engine tin media blasted and painted correct satin black. Rebuilt correct date matched carbs as well as fuel pump, fuel valve and for the distributor-new points, cap, rotor, condensor, spark plugs and spark plug wires. All brakes disassembled and media blasted, new/rebuilt brake cylinders for all wheels, new master cylinder, new hard brake lines as well as new rubber brake lines, all brake parts media degreased and media blasted and painted. All gauges work: speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel level gauge, temperature gauge and lights: high and low beam, parking lights, brake lights, turn signals, dimmer lights and horn: all function correctly--even the dimmer on steering wheel center works as does horn.
*Floors, battery box and closing panels are original and very solid. Gap on hood and doors and engine lid are excellent and hood has no kinks.
*Vehicle comes with original hardtop and soft top frame that will need covering. Soft top frame is a reproduction and fits car very well. We have put the soft top frame on the car to show how well it fits.
*Original jack with handle is with the car. We unfortunately did not receive the owners manual nor tool kit.
*Original colors are white with red interior-a beautiful color combination.
*The last photo shows the bill of sale from 1965 for the purchase of the cabriolet. Selling price was $1400 where he traded in a 1955 Ford Station Wagon and received $170 for the trade in. If only you could buy one today for the same price...
*This car is unrestored--you see exactly what it is. Our efforts have been to get it running and driving so that the condition of the engine and gearbox are known. The reason you want to restore an excellent unrestored car is that you want to have control over how it is restored. If you buy one that has been restored, you don't know how much bondo filler was used, who did the interior, how the car was reassembled after painting it...all of these are important details. If you are a "Porsche person" you want the car to be assembled and restored with close attention paid to how the Porsche factory original built the cars, with no sloppiness or half measures. When you purchase a good unrestored example, you see exactly what you have "warts and all". You then have the decision to say how the work is to be done and which materials are to be used and how they are to be used during the restoration.

Clean title on hand in our name. Call Tom Nelson @ 919-522-4412 for questions.
Car will need a cosmetic restoration--interior, paint and chrome. Engine and transmission are excellent.
