Car description

This is a running project car. Most of the functional and mechanical work has been done. The interior is unfinished. Extensive body repairs are completed, but the paint is only fair. Far from a show car, this is a solid daily driver.
The engine is recently rebuilt with new bearings, rebuilt heads, and a 1720 cc big bore kit. The compression measures good. The Solex carbs are rebuilt, and work well. Oil pressure is good. Has been driven a few hundred miles since overhaul. The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly; it’s quiet and the syncros are OK; strong clutch.
The seat vinyl was replaced a few years ago, soft and attractive. Seat belts are lap only. The inner door panels are not attached; an original panel set in matching tan, fair condition is included. Re-covered inside door handles are included but not attached. There is no original carpet. Door and side window seals need replacement.
The alloy wheels are a bit wider than originals: front - 6J x 15; rear - 7J x 15. They are "cookie cutter" style by ATS with Porsche part numbers. These were used on some 911s from 1973 on. The front fenders and hood are replacements in excellent condition. The chrome headlight bezels and lights are correct for 1968 on. These later headlights give more light than the earlier covered ones. The steering wheel is not original.
The rear fenders add a slight flare at the wheel openings (aftermarket steel). The original rear fenders are still present and good. The flare pieces could be removed by grinding off the pop rivets.
The paint is pretty good, but it was painted in sections with imperfect color match. The front fenders and engine lid are recently repainted. The floor was replaced with new galvanized panels from Stoddard. Small areas of rust in the rockers and inner rockers were cut out and new metal MIG welded in. All significant rust damage has been repaired. Most of the new metal is painted black and does not show details well, so some photos show welds before painting. There is a small older patch in the spare tire well forward of the gas tank, done by a previous owner with pop rivets. This area looks like rust spots in one photo, but is actually quite solid with some red primer overspray.
The instruments all work OK, except the clock. The odometer says 30,000+; not actual miles. Ignition key works in glove box; separate keys for each door. Start position on ignition switch is unreliable; has separate push-button start. There are no horns, visors, or radio. Wipers, lights, and turn signals work. The brakes are good. Master cylinder has been replaced, and all four calipers are rebuilt; new flex hoses.
The serial number (3054XX) is consistent with this being a 911, but it has the 4 cylinder 912 engine. Conversion to a 911 would require moving the motor mounts aft a bit. I believe the rear body portion and 911 engine were damaged and replaced long ago. Prior to recent restoration it spent many years in storage. I have had it for about 12 years. Clear Kansas title. Own a great drivable classic for well below the usual collector price.
