"1977 911S"
On July 12th 1977 Bill M went to his local Porsche dealer, Neuffeld, and bought a brand new Porsche 911S.
This wasn't a stripped down one either, the options were:
Silver Met Paint $420
Special Leather Int $1000
Option Group 36 $1465
Bamberg Radio $525
Sports Seats $255
Alum Fender Trim $225
A/C $895
Power Antenna $150
Engine Comp Light $25
Electric Sunroof $710
Totaling over $5700 in options, bringing the price of the car to $21084.50
Bill took great care of his Porsche over the years. He didn't drive it much at first and in 1985 had the motor re-done and hot-rodded a little. Amongst the many upgrades were SC camshafts and oversize pistons making it a 2.8 litre motor instead of the stock 2.7.
They figured that this boosted the horsepower into 210-220 range.
They also pinned and line-bored the cases, added Carrera tensioners, replaced the valves and got rid of the thermo reactors.
He must of liked the added power and reliability because he started driving the car a bit more, although when he sold the car in 1990 it only had 21,455 miles on the clock.
The second owner continued to lovingly look after the car, although for whatever reason we do not have much in the way of records during this period.
There are several boxes with original parts in them, air-pump, headlights, exhaust and various bits that were replaced over the years.
Other than the motor updates, this car is incredibly stock. Most of the paint is original, although the driver's side front fender was scratched in a parking lot years ago, and re-painted.
This car is in incredible condition overall, both inside and out. The best part is that it drives every bit as good as it looks. The motor runs very strong, the transmission shifts smoothly and the brakes are great. There is very little smoke or oil leakage, evidence of the engine updates and improvements.
If you are searching for a mid-year car, I think that this one would be very hard to beat.
Incredible condition, motor updates, and amazing originality make this a special car indeed.
