Car description |

Runs well. Drives well. Incredibly solid ride that sticks to the road and corners well. VERY fun to drive. Items done include complete clutch replacement, ir pump, rive/fan belts, indshield wiper water pump, rake master cylinder, ront and rear rotors and pads, egular oil changes and maintenance. Exterior and interior are in excellent condition. Body is in excellent condition. Paint is relatively new with factory quality bronze metallic original finish. New tires. Car has been garaged since it was acquired by my parents in 1988. They gave it to me in 2008. I have only driven it around 3900 miles only because I drive it longer road trips and not day to day city driving. I have all the history and receipts for all themaintenance and repair work done since my parents owned it. It comes with two Porsche Driver's Manuals: one is in English and the other is in German. The car was originally purchased in Nurnberg, ermany by Messr. American Laser GmbH in 1981 and he imported it to the U.S. around this same time. So the car is a Grey import vehicle (new or used motor vehicles legally imported from another country through channels other than the maker's official distribution system). As such, he instrument panel is German/metric. I have had no difficulties driving it and doing the kilometer to miles conversions. This car is 35 years old and is in good operating order. This is by far the BEST handling car I have ever driven. Has plenty of horse power and torque both at 260. Car was developed to be a 308 Ferrari fighter and I believe Porsche did it with it being comfortable and roomy. Great iconic car from the 80's.
I had problems with the VIN when listing on eBay because the VIN is German. This is what I learned from other Porsche 928 collectors and enthusiasts: "This VIN is for a 1982 German 928S.Your car though doesn't have German fenders on either side with turn markers behind each wheel. Without catalytic converters or other items required when it was imported it would make 300 hp at the crank, sually about 240 on a dyno at the rear wheels.Europe doesn't use model years in the US sense, ts about when a car is sold, ot manufactured, ut they follow US rules for the VIN which has 82 starting with cars manufactured in the second half of 81, hich if sold in Germany would have it as a 81 model. WP0ZZZ means non USA."After further research I learned the difficulty with the VIN on eBay is attributable to the fact that U.S. VIN numbers adopted a standardized format after 1981 and do not contain the letters I (i), (o), r Q (q) (to avoid confusion with numerals 1 and 0). The only way I could get around that was use the year 1980. But the title states it is a 1982 and the import paperwork states both 1980 and 1981. So to be safe I used 1980.
As a grey market car it won't be possible to register in Calif, s Calif considers all grey imports as 49 state.

HP Clarification:
The engine specs on both manuals references 240 HP but both theses manuals are identical and are NOT for the grey import or German specs. That said, he HP on this car is grossly understated. My mechanicbelieves it is over 300 HP. My father's mechanic and longtime friend (who works for the Porsche dealership in SLC, tah) believes it is likely in the 320 HP range. He went on to say Germans and Americans measure HP differently and there are many variables involved (i.e. apparently you lose HP because the car is RWD, tc...). In closing, e did say that he had never been a fan of the 928, ut when he saw and drove this one he was converted as it is "one of the nicer ones he has seen."
