About me; I am a man of integrity and have listed, ossibly to a fault, ll the information about this car in an attempt to ensure no surprises for the buyer.
I have an eye for detail and the notes under the "BAD" section are items that most sellers would not mention, ecause the car is 39 years old. This car could easily be driven and enjoyed as it sits now.
Those of you who know T/A's and/or the classic car marketwill recognize this particular car as a great find.
Being a Clint Eastwood fan, will describe the car by one of my favorite movie titles.
THE GOOD;
1976 is the last year Pontiac produced the "455 HO" V-8 for the T/A.
Of the 46,704 T/A's produced in 1976, nly 7,099 were equipped with the 455 HO V-8 (that's about 15%).
Most T/A's were built with the 400 V-8 (37,015) and automatic transmission.
This car is a blast to drive, lways turns heads and generates conversations everywhere. At car shows, t is usually the only '76 T/A there.
As seen in the photos, he paint is in great shape. The paint is very shiny and low maintenance. Although the paint is "Carousel Red," it looks a little more like tangerine orange.
The tan interior is in great condition, ith no tears in the seats or carpet. The dash and headliner are also in great condition.
The car runs strong and hastons of torque.
The numbers matching engine was recently professionally rebuilt. Idecided totastefully upgrade the motor by installing a mild performance cam and forged pistons. This was done to wake the motor up, s the factory 455 HO only had about 200 hp. This is not a race car, ut will get up to the speed limit impressively.
Since the engine rebuild, have put less than 1k miles on the car. I have driven the car mostly on the highway and have not driven it hard.
While having the engine rebuilt, had a new clutch (not rebuilt) installed, long with several new parts (i.e. distributor, ater pump, tc.).
The car came with a Summit Racing rear end.
In November, 014, had the car professionally appraised for insurance purposes. The appraiser noted the car to be in 2.0 "FINE" condition and valued at $34,000.
In April I entered a local classic car auction. At the time, had just finished having the engine rebuilt. My reserve was 32k. When it crossed the block, he bidding ran up to 27.5k. I did not lower my reserve, ecause I knew if I was patient, could sell it for around 32k. Now, am in a position where I am more motivated to sell and willing to take the financial loss.
THE BAD (not really "BAD," just trying to keep with the title);
As stated above, he paint is in great condition, ut not perfect. There are a couple small spots on the hood where it appears there was water in the paint when the car was repainted. It's NOT rust, oes NOT look like rust and is only visible upon very close inspection.
There are no dings or dents on the car, ut a couple small areas where paint touch up could be done to bring the paint to near perfect.
The front bumper could use minor touch up paint. If I were to keep the car, would have the rear bumper repainted (see photos). There are no dents in the bumpers, ut because they are painted plastic, here are a couple spots thatneed paint work.
I can take close up photos of the couple areas I am referring, f requested.
Although the car runs strong, think the carburetormay need some fine tuning.
The non-OEM radio only plays through one rear speaker. I think the previous owner removed aserious sound system andreplaced it with the one currently installed.
The trunk will not stay open unless it is propped.
THE UGULY;
My only reason for selling:
Kind of a long story, ut here is the edited version. In May, 014, bought the car from Seattle Classic Cars (SCC). The car was advertised as being in amazing condition and that the buyer would have, Tears of joy getting on the freeway." After it was picked up by the transport company, ean, he owner of SCC, alled me and said the car was running rough.
When the car arrived, t was not as advertised and within 30 miles, t quit running. Ultimately, ean would not stand behind the car and blamed the engine condition on the transport company.
I decided to rebuild the engine (rather than replacing it which would lower its' value). I had intended on keeping the car and wanted a quality, rofessional rebuild. Yada yada yada, 0 months and over 15k later, he car is as it wassupposed to be. The problem for me and the reason for my selling is; I am in debt for the repairs.
