From our museum collection is this beautiful 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible 389 4 speed!!!! This GTO was a rust free California car originally and has had a professional frame off restoration performed to it. It has been a prized part of our museum for many years. According to the Pontiac Historical Data on the car, which we have, it was originally a Marimba Red car with black interior and a power black convertible top. While it was being totally restored the colors were reversed to Starlight Black exterior with Medium Red interior. It is one of 6,644 1964 Pontiac GTO convertibles built. It has a correct 78 XW 389 cu in motor with the 3x2 carburetor setup, which replaced the original 4 barrel setup that originally came on this car. It also came equipped with the M20 four speed manual transmission, power steering, factory AM radio, sport wood steering wheel, 3:23 Posi-Trac rear end, exhaust splitters and has the desirable Hurst wheels with redline tires. The power disc brakes were added under restoration for safety and better driveability. If you are looking for the car that arguably started the American Muscle Car movement this GTO will make a great addition to your collection!!!
