Car description |
---|
This 1967 Firebird convertible is the best of both worlds. A rare car by any of todays standards, it offers the ultimate in a muscle car and as such was a part of the Elkhart collection of cars. Big block, 4 speed, convertible with factory air conditioning. And unlike so many other restored cars, every single item on the car works and is completely functional. The car runs and starts and drives with zero issues even in the Arizona summers. This car can be driven anywhere with comfort and does not require any bugs or fixes to be worked out. Turn key in every way. Car is located in Scottsdale Arizona.
A “RARE SURVIVOR†with pedigree & comprehensive documentation going back to the original owner. Only 3668 Firebird 400 Convertibles were produced in 1967 with less than 660 of them 4-speeds. Considering all of the additional options, it is likely only a very few were produced and survive today. This car was purchased from the original owner’s son in 1995. Showing it’s age, the paint was due for freshening so the body was stripped & refinished in the original Montego Cream color. Most of the chrome & bright work was in good order, just in need of polishing. The interior was & still is completely original & in incredible condition. In an effort to retain as much of the original patina as possible, this car has not been “over the top†restored or detailed so it can still be enjoyed and driven.
Car build date: 03C (Third week of March) 1967
Engine Date code: C027 (March 2,1967)
Transmission date code: P7C07 (March 7, 1967)
The car was originally purchased April 18, 1967 from Somers Pontiac in New Haven, Connecticut. Around 1995 the original owners son sold the car to a collector in Maine who kept the car until November of 2018 when it became a part of the Elkhart collection.
This beautiful, first year Firebird came equipped with the following options;
Powered convertible top Factory air conditioning (very unusual for a convertible)
325 HP 400 cubic inch engine Muncie M20 4 speed transmission

Front disc brakes Deluxe interior
Power windows Tinted glass
AM/FM radio Rally gauge cluster w/hood tach

All of this is documented by the original Factory Order Sheet, original Dealer Window Sticker & the Pontiac Historical Society. Included in the documentation are original Owner’s Manual with the Protec-o-plate and several vehicle registrations & insurance cards.
During the fall of 2019 the car the car had a complete rebuild/restoration of the engine, drive train, chassis and suspension. Approximate 600 miles have been put on the car since the work was competed to ensure everything is functional. Firebirds of this caliber and with this history are rare.
