Car description |

Up for bids is this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that's been off the road since 1993 with 30,560 original miles. I purchased this car from the third owner back in 1993 with the intentions of restoring it. Upon purchase it was taken apart and put away in the back of the garage Make no mistake, it was rusty way back when I bought it and not pristine. The original owner, who the third owner knew, was a woman who ran it hard and put it away wet. Or actually she didn't put it away at all but left it outside most it's early life having driven it through Northeast snow and salt. So it pretty much looked like this in 1993 but the rust has advanced some. Hard to find uncut hardtop roof. Most were butched for sunroofs or hatches.
The quarters need replacing (lower rear on right, full on left). The cowl has rust. The a-pillars have some rust. The floors are pretty decent with the exception of the right front panel. Toe boards are decent. Rockers are perfect. Lower tail panel needs to be replaced (common rust out area). Trunk floor on left side needs work. Torque boxes are good on both sides. Front sections of rear wheel wells on both sides need work. Roof has some surface rust in 3 spots (no rust through). Right frame rail is good. Left frame rail is mostly good except where it meets the tail panel and will need to be either replaced (very rear section, not full replacement) or reinforced. Comes with front subframe, red 15x7 snowflakes, rear glass (front windshield is cracked) and original posi rear (I assume it still has the 2.56 ratio as noted on the build sheet).
Car is originally silver (painted black at some point) with a carmine interior code and carmine (red) graphics. Car was originally a 400 with THM350. See full build sheet shown in the listing. The auctionDOES NOTinclude anything not pictured in this listing. What you see in the pictures here is what you get with the auction and nothing else. The engine, transmission, interior, doors, trunk lid, front sheetmetal, or bumpers willNOTbe included in this auction nor am I selling any of these itemsseparatelyin any other auctions. Please don't ask, I no longer have them. The car is on a front dolly with the rear still attached so it is mobile. Buyer is responsible for arranging pick up or shipping.
