West Coast Classics presents an absolutely exceptional example of this original southern California rust free coveted original California 'black license plate' 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix coupe with its original L74 389/303 bhp 4BBL V8 (18K code correctly mated to a/t & a/c) engine, reportedly with 69k original miles, with full PHS documentation and loaded with factory options including factory air conditioning ($430), front bucket seats with center console with vacuum gauge and floor shifter, lamp package, EZ-Eye windshield, power brakes ($43), power steering ($108), deluxe steering wheel, Hydramatic transmission ($231), (now upgraded to 3 spd Turbo 350 transmission with correct floor shifter indicator), dual exhaust, electric clock, AM radio ($89) with rear speaker and desirable and rare factory Kelsey Hayes 8-Lug wheels ($122)!
Originally built at the 'Southgate' plant in Southgate, California and still finished in it's original factory 'Saddle Bronze Metallic' (S Paint Code) color paint and with its original 'Fawn' (289 Trim) color interior with the large chrome dials and factory gauges set in a real walnut inlay and the rare and highly desirable factory option of original 8 lug Pontiac rims, made by Kelsey-Hayes for Pontiac use on 1960 full size Pontiacs and some Mopars too, which were finned aluminum and very good at keeping brakes cool and more importantly are long considered the best looking stock wheels ever made!
The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free and the car has no signs of any accidents with a laser straight body - obviously an always garaged and cherished southern California driver since new. The original spare wheel is in the trunk. The 389/303HP 4 bbl V8 engine is extremely strong and powerful and this particular car drives very well indeed. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool!
The Pontiac Grand Prix was the top-of-the-line Pontiac luxury coupe and the first in a long line of 'Posh' Pontiacs that continued to the marques demise and boasted the most powerful standard engine of any Pontiac. Bucket seats were part of the standard package, as was a tachometer (with manual transmission) and vacuum gauge (with Hyra-Matic) and a center console also came as standard. The Grand Prix was a superbly styled car equally suited for the open road as it was around town.
This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving and never abused example of a coveted original southern California 'black plate' 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix coupe in very fine and mostly completely original condition throughout! It has its full PHS documentation and its original owners manual which will be sold with the car. Owned for over 57 years by only very careful driving southern California owners, this is a beautiful example of one of the outstanding GM designs of the sixties, which has high repute amongst enthusiasts and collectors for both it's beautiful lines and smooth fast performance for a luxury coupe.
