Car description |
---|
This is a very unique build. Special ordered in firethorn red with firethorn red interior, bucket seats, floor shift automatic console, full factory (all restored and working) gauges. Yes, the original owner ordered this car with basically a Trans Am interior. The car was also ordered with rally two wheels, g80 rear end posi, factory AM FM 8-track and no third seat. Comes with PHS documentation verifying that the car was special ordered this way.
EXTERIOR: The firethorn red paint shows well with a few flaws. The safari wagon has had one complete repaint about 20 years ago. The wheel well opening moldings, rocker panel moldings, front and rear bumpers etc are all original to the car and have held up well. The wheels are in beautiful condition with tires that look like they were installed yesterday. All the glass is excellent. The Safari also has a factory luggage rack.
INTERIOR: the original interior looks near new. The front bucket seats and rear bench seat, have no seam splits or discoloration. The dash looks like new. The gauges have been restored at a cost of over $1,500. The AM FM radio with 8-track player, works as it should. Believe it or not, even the clock works. The rear cargo area shows well with some fade on the plastic. It looks like the original spare has never been down.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is nicely detailed as original. The belts and hoses have been replaced. There are no signs of any leaks. It looks clean and crisp under the hood.
Once again, this car comes with PHS documentation verifying the car's factory options and colors. I've never seen another one like it, much less ever seen one for sale. I am confident you will never see another one. This LeMans Safari Wagon is not perfect, but none of them were perfect back then. This is a solid thumbs up kind of cruiser. I would literally feel confident driving across country. The research I've done tells me this is probably the only 76 Pontiac LeMans Grand Safari wagon ordered this Way. Want something really different? You just found it. Just pop in an 8-track tape and you're cruising back in the 70's.
