Car description |
---|
Here is a 1966 Pontiac GTO that is PHS documented. This car is complete, together and runs, but has been off the road for a number of years and will need a complete restoration. This car started life as a 389, 4 bbl, Auto trans on the column with a 3:23 Posi rear end. Both the trans and rear appear to be original. The original engine is long gone, as indicated by the previous owner who purchased the car in the early 80's. Current engine is a 1967 Grand Prix 400 with 670 heads. I do have a period correct 389 dated 1966. It is not a GTO coded engine. I will sell this engine with the car for some additional $ or do an even swap for the engine that is in the car currently.
Overall the car is rather original and mostly untouched except for the engine change. I will attempt to tell you as much as I can about the car. I encourage you to call me after you have read the description. I have been dealing with GTO's my entire life, I am very familiar with these cars and will tell you whatever I can about the car. This car is a restoration project, please do not anticipate anything less.
Exterior:
Appear to have all of its original body panels, the driver side quarter panel has been scraped at some point. We did a scuff and shoot to get the car in one color (very close to the original color. We did not do any body work or filler. I have photos of the car before we did anything as well as in process, just ask and I will share them.Car has typical rust in the bottom of the fenders, corner of the doors, down low in the quarters, in the trunk, floors and front and rear dash area. I have included complete new 1pc floor pan with all braces, 1 pc trunk pan w/ braces, driver side 67 full quarter (66 full quarters are not available), lower RH quarter repair panel, replacement rear package tray assembly, used dash cut, both front fender repair panels, new rockers rear outer wheel wells. This should cover the majority of the rust repair that this car will need. I have included photos of what I could easily access, however all parts listed above will come with the car. This is over $2,500 just in sheet metal.
Interior:
All original and complete. Bucket seats are in good shape and tracks move as they should. Headliner is gone, but the bows are still there. Pretty much everything is there to restore. This is a rare column shift automatic. I do have everything to put a console and shifter in the car at an extra cost if you want to. (Can also do a 4 speed changeover at extra cost) I can also supply an new full interior kit at wholesale cost.
Engine/Trans:
Car has a 1967 Grand Prix 400, XJ Code with 670 Heads and 4bbl carter AFB style carb. We have the engine running from an external fuel jug and electric fuel pump, no smoke or funny noises. However the car is not drivable since there are no brakes. Trans appears to be original as does the rear end. It still has the Limited Slip tag.
The frame does have a couple of small spots that would need attention during the restoration. I have included photos. One spot is drivers side rear under the rear seat area. I can barely get the tip of my pinky finger in the hole. Area all around the hole appears to be solid. Each side where the frame side rails were plug welded to the front frame section has some flaking. No holes, but still notable. I want to be a clear as possible as I can be on these areas. if you have questions, please ask.
This car will need a complete and total restoration. It is not a weekend project. It is however a complete car, that runs and has a lot of new sheetmetal with it to get you started. I would potentially sell the car without the sheet metal, but you are getting the best value buying as a package deal. I also sell anything for these GTO's. If you purchase a car from me, I will wholesale you anything that you need to restore it. This can save you 1,000's! I have a lot more photos of the car and I will do my best to answer any questions. I can also deliver the car withing Ohio or the immediate surroundingstates.
My number is 614-563-O877 Clear Ohio Title in my name.
Immediate deposit of $500 due at the end of the auction. Payment in full is due within 7 days. I can assist in loading the car. Car is and will be stored inside until pickup occurs. Vehicle must be picked up within 2 weeks from date of purchase.
