Car description

1968 Pontiac GTO Hardtop. Ram Air 400/360. STUNNING!
Listed on behalf of the owner.Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
VIN#242378P302385
This GTO was purchased new from Sullivan Pontiac in Chicago on May 22, 1968.Later passed to a second owner and then to the current owner near Portland, Oregon in 2013.
Upon acquisition, the current owner set out on a meticulous and complete restoration by Nelson and Nelson Auto Body; well-known for their quality work on 60's and 70's classics. No expense was spared and no corners were cut. Body was stripped and repainted in correct "April Gold" color with subtle hand-painted pin striping. One of the finest finishes you will ever see. Flawless, with great attention to detail. All exterior and interior trim was refinished or replaced. Exceptional original dash pad. Interior was reupholstered in new correct Willow Gold material, as original. New headliner. New carpet. New polished sill plates. Absolutely stunning!
Mechanically, this GTO is exceptional. Rebuilt original numbers-matching Ram Air 400 cubic inch/360 horsepower V8. Original valve covers and air cleaner present. Rebuilt automatic transmission with very rare Hurst "His and Hers" console mounted floor shifter. Power steering. Power brakes. Stainless steel dual performance exhaust with custom headers. Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor (original Rochester carburetor is included.) Rebuilt 3.90:1 Posi-Traction rear end. Restored and working hood-mounted tachometer. All gauges were rebuilt and restored, operating accurately and looking spectacular. PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING.
In addition to the above, this GTO is HIGHLY OPTIONED with new, ice-cold air conditioning, correct wood steering wheel, rear window defroster, "Hideaway" Headlights, original in-dash AM pushbutton radio - plus a hidden Alpine 1000 watt AM/FM/CD stereo inside the glove box, with speakers hidden in the trunk. New, period-correct Crager/Hurst wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
Since completion of the restoration, this GTO has traveled less than 1,100 miles; mostly to shows and car events. In its premiere showing at the prestigious Portland Roadster Show, this car received multiple awards including: Best In Class Award, Sponsor's Choice Award and "Street Achievement" Award for outstanding restoration. It has been kept in a climate-controlled garage and looks fresh today. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS, which were just taken for this listing.
There is little to add. If you are looking for one of the finest '68 GTOs available in the world today, this is it. No disappointments. Drive or show with confidence. Turns heads wherever it goes.
A realistic reserve has been placed on this GTO, well below the cost of restoration. Quality is not cheap. Please bid accordingly. All restoration receipts, original historical documents and manuals will be included with purchase.
WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
