You are bidding on a sweet rarely seen restored excellent driver 1955 Pontiac Chieftain 2 door Post that has had nice upgrades and performance mods. This rare 1955 Pontiac 2 door is an awesome fully restored driver that is turn-key ready to cruise. In fact it was my wife's in season cruise night driver it is very well sorted front to back it runs great just jump and go. It has a rebuilt 1957 Pontiac 347 built out to a 354 V-8 w/285hp, Edelbrock 4bbl carb, Petronix ignition. Mated to a synchronized Borg Warner Heavy Duty 3 speed Transmission with Hurst Floor Shift that is really fun to drive. It is a testament to the love, care given to this very special 55' over the years. If you have been searching for a restored rarely seen 1955 Chieftain that is a beautiful driver here are more details.

The Details;

The body is arrow straight and rock solid no issues. Gaps and panel fit are all up to standard. The doors shut effortlessly which is very difficult to find. It has a restored paint & body that was professionally completed in the 90's yes it was a very nice job. Paint has held up remarkably well looks much more recent simply due to indoor covered storage. Two-Tone White w/Silver Gray the white is more to the Ivory color and there is slightly bluish hue in the gray that always gets compliments at all the cruise nights we have attended. The trim and stainless is good on the car. It has nice chrome. Glass is good. It has new Mastercraft radials all around with Steel wheels and factory full hubcaps. The interior upholstery has been all redone in matching two-tone Black w/Silver Gray high quality cloth insert and it shows beautifully. Headliner was redone prior however it needed a few patches put in due to a few small holes that developed over time. The frame chassis, floors and trunk are awesome rock solid. The engine compartment is good enough for local cruises.

The Mechanics; Mechanical specs/recently completed work. Engine rebuilt 1957 347 V-8 bored 40 over to a 354 with new Cam, lifters, Balanced Internals, Forged Pistons with 285hp with Edelbrock 4bbl and Petronix electronic ignition, mated to an upgraded Heavy Duty Borg Warner 3 speed transmission synchronized with Hurst floor shifter (car was a rare manual shift car orig 3 speed Trans is included in the sale most of these were automatics), Open Non-Posi Rear has new pinion seal, cruising gears, front suspension was rebuilt, complete new front disc brake kit installed the car stops with excellence, original steering box has virtually no play (old timers will get this it has 1 hour play in either turning direction incredibly tight), all new brake lines, new master cylinder w/reserve fluid tank remote fill w/4 times the brake fluid, every part on the rear brakes is new, drums were cut, fuel system has all new fuel lines & fuel pump, new fuel tank looks galvanized, new shocks, battery, all new custom made Staggered dual muffler exhaust system both mufflers w/single pipe with all Mondo Hangers exhaust can easily be removed in 10 minutes, has two working heaters defrost one heater is under the hood the other is under the footwells the under seat heater will cook you out when you use it (I did this for my wife she gets cold so I could make her real toasty warm), e-brake works, good body mounts, not working is the radio, wipers (which I didn't care about we never use the car in the rain & I have applied multi coats of Rain-x on the windshield & factory temp gauge (there is now a mechanical temp gauge installed that works), believed orig panels but can not guarantee that as I did not paint the car, has special chrome trumpet dual horns installed on relay, newer Interstate Battery holds excellent battery charge with the Genny so I never changed it over to alternator, car is 12 volt, basically everything underneath the car is new except for one rear leaf, the front coils that were all good and the 2 rear steel wheels all else new, mileage reads Actual on our PA Title but we are still selling it as *miles exempt simply due to the age of the vehicle buyer will get an actual miles title in our name that must be transferred upon sale/payment in full. It is mechanically sound you will really enjoy driving it.
