Car description

This sale is for a real, numbers matching, Cardinal Red on red interior 1970 Pontiac GTO with 242 VIN. The drivetrain is a Pontiac 400 motor with a TH400 automatic transmission and a 12 bolt positraction rear end.

I bought this car out of Texas andhave owned itfor 3.5 years. Ihave done a ton of restoration work on it and spent ridiculous amounts of money on so many things I cant even remember everything. That being said, this car hasNOT been completely restored and is soldAS ISwith complete disclosure tothe best of my knowledge. I want the buyer to be well informed and pleased with their purchase.

ENGINE: The motor is the originalPontiac 400 with the matching VIN stamp on the block. It has been completely professionally rebuilt. Less than 2,000 miles on the overhaul.

ENGINE CODE = YS (350 hp Pontiac 400 with automatic transmission)

BLOCK CASTING CODE = 9799914 (1970 400)

DATE CODE = H269 (August 26, 1969)

TWO DIGIT YEAR NUMBER = 70 (Next to the distributor)

-This build included being bored .030 over (this is the first rebuild of the motor) with new forged pistons

-Block was decked and line bored

-Crankshaft was turned and outfitted with new rod and main bearings and rotating assembly balanced

-Original heads were completely rebuilt

-Comp hydraulic, flat tappet cam installed with new cam bearings (similar to the ram air cam grind)

-New Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold (I also have the original intake manifold)

-New Holley 750 vacuum secondary carburetor (also comes with the quadrajet carb that was on it)

-New oil pump and pickup, water pump, fuel pump and fuel lines, 4:1 reduction starter, alternator, voltage regulator, battery and motor mounts

-New oil pan due to dented original

-New full length headers with complete new dual exhaust system (also have the original exhaust manifolds)

TRANSMISSION: Turbo 400/TH400 automatic

-Has a very mild B&M shift kit (doesn't shift hard)

-New Hughes 2500 torque converter

-New front and rear U-joints installed

REAR END: Aftermarket

-The rear end was purchased from Summit Racing and is not the original

-12 bolt possitraction with 373 gears

-The original rear end was also a 12 bolt but with open differential

-I do know where the original rear end is and the owner would be willing to trade if that is important to you. I would just put you in touch directly with him.

STEERING AND SUSPENSION:

-New Massive brand, heavy duty adjustable rear control arms

-New rear coil springs and buffers and rear variable rate, coil over shocks

-New front coil springs and constant rate, spring assist front shocks

-New upper and lower tubular A-arms

-New upper and lower ball joints, A-arm bushings and sway bar link pins on both sides

-Wheel bearings and races packed

-Fresh wheel alignment

Miscellaneous:

-New fuel tank with sending unit and mounting straps/hardware

-New tires all around with American Racing aluminum rims (rims are not new)

-New trunk weather strip

-New windshield wiper motor, washer squirters and hose

-New headliner, package tray and arm rests

-New battery

BODY AND INTERIOR:

-The body is in excellent condition with no known rust. The front lower panel under the license plate has a small dent that isn’t visible unless you are under the car

-Both rear quarters have been replaced at some point before I owned it

-Interior is mostly original and in good shape for the age. No cigarette burns. The head rests do need recovered. (I do have the original steering wheel as well)

-As stated previously, I did install a new headliner, rear deck/package tray and arm rests as these were in need of replacement

-The trunk space is in good condition and the spare tire is mounted on a new wheel

As I said in the beginning, this car is not fully restored. Although it looks very good, it will need to be painted at some point as there are numerous cracks and some chips in the paint. The drivers side door could use new hinge pins. Also, the body has never been separated from the frame so the frame has not been restored. The rear cross section of the frame was replaced due to someone hooking a chain to this area at some time in the past and bending it.
