1960 Pontiac Ventura
This 1960 Pontiac Ventura Sport Coupe was well known within the Pontiac Group back in its day.It has been in numerous issues of the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) monthly Smoke Signals Magazine, as well as several articles in Collectible Automobile Magazine and the Sixty Owners Society (SOS) Shark Bites Newsletter.
The previous 25 year owner, a true 1960 Pontiac Guru purchased it in the early 1990's and because of its low 60,000 miles and truly original untouched condition named it the "SURVIVOR".
This vehicle was assembled at the Pontiac Michigan Plant with the 389 2 barrel engine coupled to the 4 speed Hydramatic transmission and Safe-T-Track Differential and E-Z-Eye glass. Like most cars bought for performance, it had no power steering or power brakes.
Over the years all the scarce optional high performance parts were hunted down and purchased.
The Ventura was then converted to tri power, along with the Borg Warner T-10 4 speed synchro-mesh transmission and original Inland dog-leg shifter. The very rare optional 1960 Kelsey Hayes 8 lug aluminum hubs and wheels were also added. It is also a radio delete, back up light delete vehicle and has the rear stabilizer bar and dual exhaust with cutouts.
These short wheel base Wide Track Pontiac's were highly sought after by the Weekend Warriors who were into racing.
According to Pontiac Records there were only 722 original 4 speed cars produced in 1960 which was the first year the Borg Warner T-10 4 speed floor-shift was available in the Pontiac.
The car originally left the factory painted all Regent Black, and at a later date the roof was repainted white. The car was totally repainted sometime at a later date. The interior is the original factory burgundy-maroon tri-tone morrokide vinyl, along with the original factory rugs.
I have listed this car for my father who has recently encountered some health issues and is downsizing his collection.
The car is located in Oliver, British Columbia, 15 miles north of the Washington State Border in the Okanagan.
