Car description |
---|
Here is a 1969 Pontiac Bonneville convertible that runs and drives, with power top, and 4 working power windows, decent, but not a show queen.Car has some rust spots, so it is not a totally clean desert car.
There is no reserve for this auction. That means once someone places that initial bid at $5,200. It is open from there to the highest bid. Whatever price the highest bid at the end of 7 days, it Sells for that...It is your car, once your payment clears.
Once you bid, you are committingto purchase this car in "AS IS" condition with No Warantee Expressed, or Implied. Please don't click to bid, if you have not completely thought out payment in 7 days and shipping this car to your location. Yes, I can hold the car until you arrange atime to come in person, or send a truck for it.
Have Pontiac Historic Documents, particularly the build sheet (added it to the pictures section). Car originally Sold in Philadelphia, moved right away to Maryland, then presumably to Az. I have clean AZ title in my name, it shows 10,000 miles with a "B" box checked meaning it is over 100,000 miles, or 110,000. Miles on speedometer/odometer says: 10,464.0 today, obviously no 1969 odometer showed the 100,000's, it is likely 110,464.
428 engine is YH code 360HP or so ...Blue Motors Manual book says 360 for 69.Rear Axle is "Open" carrier w/ highway gear, not a Posi, Safe-T-Track as Buildsheet shows.
Car is registered in my name and I drive it here in MARANA AZ (Nearest to Tucson) for short trips, I do not go down the highway at 75 with her, she needs a nice new set of tires, you can buy your brand favorite. These have good tread, but these are showing age-wear. I don't want to tell you to fly out here and drive it home. I have only put a couple hundred miles on it since I owned it. Has 4 Pretty nice factory Rally 2 wheels.
Car was originally Painted in Mayfair Maize, or light yellow, now of course Maroon or Red and paint is a bit old and crackled. The front nose area of the bumper has a rubber impact on the leading edge that enduro type pad is missing.
This car has Power Front Disc Brakes, factory AC (non-operative,it is there but no freon compressor etc untested), Has Factory Rear Power Antenna option (never tested) and aftermarket radio is in there, but no face plate so no radio, (😢), the original shroud for radiator is in the trunk and is "Usable", if you want ever want to switch back to an original type radiator. Car has remote driver's mirror, has power locks, but they don't operate (no surprise there). The Power Seat option is on the Build Sheet, but the power tracks and control are missing. I see the taped up lead wire is still on the floor under seat, so it was equipped originally. It has 4 working "T-3" Headlights still up front...Pontiac Chief Profile glows red on the speedo...
I have added an HEI distributor and coil, newer wires, aluminum radiator, gas tank, plugs, new control arm bushings, ball joints, some newer front tie rodends...still needs an alignment, once you buy new tires.Much of the same parts as other full size BOP GM cars.
The power top functions well, goes up and down quickly, and it latches good. All the bows are good and the front header is good. The vinyl portion of the top is cracking from the sun and age, rear glass is okay, a few small tears that will probably leak. It doesn't rain much here to worry about it, it stays under cover when it rains here.
Needs plenty of attention make it your everyday car, but this is a decent starting point and there aren’t many 50 years old big block classic GM convertibles out there that run and drive for under say $9K, by the time you get it home?
Here are the areas where the car has typical back east rust. See photos please. There is a littlerustin the rockers front of doors and back of door jambs, behind rear wheels (patched/repaired last paint job), some old bodywork cracking in front of the left rear tire and back of front drivers door. The rear of hood has a few bubbles. The rad support and lower front valance has some more significant rust. The rear of quarters up next to tail lights have a few pinholes. Lower Rear quarters were patched when last painted. The front driver floor has been patched at drivers feet. The Trunk Floor looks really clean top and bottom and the rest of the floors appear okay.
The car needs complete restoration, but it can be driven until that time.It is offered locally for sale cash, no trades... thank you.
