This 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix is equipped like no other I've ever seen. I've included the Pontiac Historical documentation to show how it was equipped from the factory.
TachometerPower steeringPower brakes06b police package includingHeavy duty 3 speed stickHeavy duty 15 inch wheelsHeavy duty suspensionHeavy duty starterSpecial lifters and camSpecial distributorHeavy duty 4 barrel motorHeavy duty clutchAIR CONDITIONING2 speed wipersFoam dash padEzi glassConsoleClockDeluxe steering wheel
WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVEBack up lightsRadio (has an aftermarket Motorola radio installed at dealership with aftermarket antenna installed on rear fender)PWPS
It was purchased new in Los Angeles and eventually made its way to southern(dry!) Utah where it was purchased on 10/13/1972. He kept it for over 40 years. It still has the 1973 Utah license plate on it. I purchased it from that same guy about 5 years ago and it had a very tired 1966 Pontiac 326 in it. He owned the local gas station in this small town and when I first saw it in the late 70's it was parked behind his home. I cant help but wonder if some guy from California was driving east when the original engine quit on him. He may have taken it to the only auto repair shop and ended up leaving it. It took me many years to get this car from him! I let it sit until this year and did the following work to it;
Complete paintComplete reproduction interiorNew steering boxNew 1967 340 horsepower 400New radiatorNew carburetorNew starterNew rubber door sealsNew rubber roof sealsNew trunk sealNew fuel pumpNew exterior emblemsNew fog light lensesNew window frame and glass on drivers door
And who knows what else! This is a wonderful running and driving car. It still has 1 of the 1973 license plates on it
Now the important stuff. This car has its original rust free rear quarters, floors and rocker panels. There was a 3 inch hole at the bottom of each front fender that was patched when repainted in its original color. The trunk floor is solid but showing rust starting where the body mounts are. I POR 15'd those two small spots st keep it from growing
I have attached the PHS documents for your review. There were only 5985 Pontiac's built with this drive train. Most were base Catalinas destined for police duty. A few were built with the 4 speed transmission, but I have never seen a Gran Prix with the Police package. I'd be interested to hear how many 3 speed GP's you have ever seen. I've seen a few 4 speeds, but I suspect this combination is much rarer. I have no way to prove it, but this car could easily be a one of one!
UPDATE: I have been contacted by an individual who also has a 1963 Grand Prix with the police package. His does not have A/C, but was built about 200 VIN numbers after mine on the SAME day. He bought his from the original owner and he has never seen another 1963 Grand Prix with the Police Package until now.
Car is sold where is and as is. Buyer must pay in full prior to pick up to confirm that payment has cleared the bank.
This rare Pontiac is so much cooler than a GTO. And so much rarer. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to have something really special parked in your driveway that no one else has.
The car has never been color sanded and buffed. It needs to be done. I'll include a quart of the surplus paint too.
Oh, one more thing.. I'm not a dealer, just a Pontiac lover. Please review the photos and ask any questions. I'll answer asapI will not sell outside of eBay.
Thanks for reading all of this. I'll be out of town from Nov 25 to Dec 11. Please arrange shipping accordingly.
Mileage shows 23000. I have no way of knowing if that is accurate. I'd assume that is is 123000, but it is such a clean car, that who knows.
