Car description |

Born a real GTO, factory red, factory 4-speed with air! Documented by Pontiac Historical Service. California car until 2016. It had an extensive restoration in 2006, a pile of receipts are included
EXTERIOR: It's a factory red car and it's been repainted a very glossy, polished finish. No ugly vinyl top. Door jambs are clean. The trim has been restored or replaced. Bumpers are rechromed. Stainless wheel well moldings, rocker trim, window moldings, rain gutters and even the wiper arms have been polished bright. Headlight and tail light bezels are replaced. New emblems and weatherstrips. All the tinted glass was replaced. Antenna was replaced with a correct one. New Rally 1 wheels- 15x6 in front, 15x7 in back with a set of radial redline tires.
INTERIOR: Interior is restored beautifully. I just just hopped in here right away notice there are new cushions in the seats. The pearl white is beautiful against the red exterior. Upholstery and door panels have been replaced. Armrests, handles and cranks are replaced. The headliner was replaced and fits tight, new visors, mirror and dome light works. Has optional dash pad, it's new. The metal is painted gloss black. Also has optional rally gauges including tachometer, they look restored. New chrome a/c vents. Has a Pontiac retro stereo that fits right in the factory hole. Steering wheel has been upgraded with a walnut rimmed wheel. It has a factory center console with a Hurst shifter and 5-speed ball. The carpet and sill plates have been replace. Seat belts front and back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: First impression is wow! To see a tri power and air conditioning sitting next to each other is not common, plus it has power steering and power brakes. Everything is proper and painted up nicely. The 389 is date coded correct for this car. It has been completely rebuilt, has spec sheet. Bored 30 over, upgraded Comp cam and roller rockers. It was Dyno tested at 349 hp. You will hear and feel when all 3 carbs open!Has correct chrome air cleaners and valve covers. The air conditioning system was restored, upgraded to r134a freon. Upgraded power brake system with dual reservoir and stainless lines. Wiper motor, steering pump and alternator were replaced. It has GM hoses and clamps, correct shroud and clutch fan. Has hood insulation new hinges. The windshield squirters are even hooked up.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Looks to be all clean original metal. I don't see any patches or repairs. Looks like the quarter panels are original, there's no splices. Has a new liner, spare tire cover and weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: Front end was completely rebuilt. Has disc brake conversion in front. Bottom of the motor is clean, has high torque starter. The original 4-speed was upgraded to a Tremec 5-speed. New McLeod clutch. Has 3.23 posi rear. Custom Pypes exhaust with x-pipe and optional splitter tips. New brake and fuel lines, e-brake assembly, gas shocks, u-joints. The floors look super clean, no patches or repairs that I could find. Chassis is also really clean metal, no pitted. Floors were prepped and painted satin finish, chassis is a glossier finish. Very clean underneath.
A 65 GTO is one of my favorites. Tri-power is a must because everyone will ask if it has a tri-power under the hood. To find this combination of features and colors is unbelievable. A manual trans with a/c is hard to find in any muscle car. The upgraded trans is nice, 5th gear makes highway cruising comfortable. You won't find another one like this!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
