Car description

1952 Pontiac Chieftain Sedan four door. Inline eight cylinder "Pontiac Eight" engine with Hydra-Matic transmission. I know very little of the history of this car. I'm selling for a family member who bought the car in 2018 for basically nostalgic reasons, i.e. back in '52 the family car was aPontiac Chieftain. With that in mind, here's what I do know. For a 67 year-old car it runs and drives very well. The condition of the body inside and out is such that the car might have been restored at some point. If it was, everything was put back as original. The mohair headliner and seat covers are in good condition and the carpet still retains its dark green color, however the top of the rear seat and the shelf beneath the back glass are sun damaged. There is a receipt for a repaint from 2004, so the car evidently has had some paint work. Some rust repair has been done in the rear-most edge of the trunk, but other than surface rust, everything else (floors, rocker panels, fenders inner and outer) are solid. Windshield and door glasses have some separation on the edges, but are not cracked and still function well. Lights and blinkers work and the vacuum tube radio turns on but there's no antennae. The heater appears to have been disconnected. The dome light and the horn are not working. There are a few bubbles in the exterior paint along with some scratches, but the color is not badly faded. Mechanically the car is sound. It has the original 6-volt electrical system and wejust installed a new starter and new battery.Tires are excellent. The car is a blast to drive. Handling characteristics are what you would expect from a car this size and weight. It does not have power steering or power brakes, but it's cushy and quiet and tracks straight both under power and when stopping. The engine is quiet and leak-free and is also powerful enough to merge withtraffic and easily cruise at 60 to 65 mph.A couple of things to note. The car is listed with a rebuilt, rebuildable and reconstructedtitle status. That was the only way I could get it to appear in what I thought would be the correct selling category. It is being sold with a Bill of Sale only since our state does not require a title for a vehicle this old. It was also purchased previously with a Bill of Sale. The mileage listed is for "fill in the blank" purposes only since I cannot verify odometer accuracy.
If you are in the market for a solid near original classic Pontiac this could be the car.
