Car description

INTERNATIONAL AND OVERSEAS BUYERS WELCOME. PLEASE CALL ME AT (76O) 805-8O3EIGHT WITH ANY QUESTIONS. I WILL BE HAPPY TO DO A BUY IT NOW FOR SERIOUS BUYERS. This is a very complete 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 convertible that deserves to be restored. Two things that I want to be clear about up front, IT HAS RUST! If you don't understand what that means, it means IT HAS RUST! Also, the new 17 inch Rally wheels and tires ARE NOT INCLUDED unless you want to pay an extra $1000. I could use them for my brother's Chevelle. The car will come and is sold with the original 15 inch Rally II wheels, NOT THE 17s unless otherwise specified. This is a desirable early Bird that still retains it's original matching # 400 cubic inch V-8 with it's correct YT suffix code. The car has a 4 speed manual transmission (I believe it was originally an automatic but was converted at least 30 years ago as it was already a 4 spd when I first saw the car), power steering, and power brakes. I recently spent a bunch of money getting the car running again. Rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump, new starter, new battery, cleaned the fuel system, new plugs, new wires, etc. It now starts right up with the turn of the key. The engine was supposedly rebuilt about 10k miles ago but it was also 20 years ago. It was just never driven much. It sounds good. Although the car starts up and runs pretty well now IT IS NOT DRIVABLE as it still needs at least brakes and probably a clutch.

I have known this car for almost 30 years. I tried to buy it outside the 7-11 in Cardiff by leaving a note on the windshield. It was a really nice car back then and being driven all of the time. He would not sell it. I tried to buy it 10 years later when it was sitting in the yard behind his house underneath a cover but still being driven weekly. He would not sell it. I tried to buy it another 10 years later when my buddy called me and said his landlord had a Firebird under a cover in the driveway and not being driven very often. He would not sell it. Each time I saw the car it was more neglected than the last and it actually made me mad. When I finally did get it, I certainly didn't need another project. I bought it almost on principle to get it away from that guy. The car deserved to be rescued and it deserves a full restoration. I just do not have the time to do it.

While it is a lifelong California black plate car (it still has both license plates), it was stored underneath a tarp and water set up in the lower quarters among other places. The car is actually pretty straight down the sides. The lower quarters are shot. They are rusted through badly in front of the rear wheels. There are more minor spots on the doors, front fenders, hood, and decklid but I think those could still certainly be saved and used with repair. It really is a shame because parts of the car are solid and, if it hadn't been for needless neglect, it probably would have all remained that way. But it didn't. The front floors are actually quite solid. The rear floors are a little crusty. There are no huge Flintstone-like holes in them or anything like some cars you see back East, but I just want to be upfront and honest so you know what you are getting.

Complete white standard interior that, although dirty, is not in bad shape., bucket seats, center console, original factory radio, factory dual scoop 400 hood with a factory Pontiac hood tach, original steering wheel, 400 hood emblem, 400 trunk emblem, Pontiac front nose emblem. The top obviously needs to be replaced. Personally I have always preferred a Firebird over a Trans Am or a GTO. I love a first gen Chevrolet Camaro too but I just always liked the styling of an early Firebird the best. Yes, I know it is a project that needs to be restored. Yes, I know it needs bodywork. Yes, I know it needs work. I am telling you these things ahead of time so anybody that might feel the need to call and tell me these things can save their breath.

This is a project car. Please be realistic with your expectations. I have priced it reasonably and it will sell this first time advertised but I am not giving it away either. Clean, clear CA title in hand. I am located in Cardiff, CA in North County Coastal San Diego. Inspections in person are encouraged. Thanks and good luck!
