SORRY I HAD TECHNICAL ISSUES AND HAD TO RELIST THE CARS. 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 1LE/R7U, one of the most collectable and rare Trans Am's ever produced. The 1989 Turbo Trans Am is very collectable and they made 1550 of them (some say 1555, but 5 were made and destroyed for crash testing) the 1LE Trans Am production number is "26â€!
Total Firebird production numbers in 1989 was 64,409. Some of the more rare ones were 8,081 GTA's, 1,550 Turbo Trans Am's, only 396 convertibles, and the most rare of all, 26 Trans Am 1LE's
Google the words "1989 firebird production numbers" you don't even have to mention 1LE, the first thing that comes up is the production numbers. (3rd Gen Birds - Trans Am World) (pictured)
These cars are so rare its hard to google much information about them, easier to look for the Camaro 1LE R7U info and some of the articles talk about the Trans Am. "Built by GM engineers to compete in the Showroom Stock Road Racing series" google "showroom stock stealth hagerty" article about Camaro 1LE's and TA's (Also have for sale its twin Camaro Iroc-z counterpart, listed as 1989 Camaro Iroc Z 1LE/R7U on eBay as well) The R7U was produced for the Canadian Players Challenge series. R7U had even more enhancements google "Canadian Racer Reborn - 1989 Chevrolet Camaro" the 1LE/R7U cars were supposed to be only ordered if you proved the car was going to be raced, very few never raced...I have found no evidence of any other 1989 Trans Am 1LE's that were never raced. I had a conversation with someone that knows these cars very well, he said he knew of one that was a backup car and not raced, I am still waiting for verification of that. If it was a back-up car it would have been fitted with roll bars etc, this car and the twin Camaro...no roll bars ever installed. less than 17,000 kms (10,500miles) google 1989 Camaro 1LE and 1989 Trans Am 1LE. Easy shipped and titled for USA buyer, ask me how.
Both cars have had no accidents, all original paint with the exception of the left front flip up headlight cover on the Trans Am. both have been in storage containers, started and run frequently to avoid dried seals and gaskets. All the rubbers and door seals are impeccable, interiors are 10 out of 10 for both cars with no cracking, tears, or fading in anyway, completely showroom ready on the inside and outside. The underneath of both cars have some light flash surface rust on the normal exposed unprotected parts, easily reversed to be show ready. They drive like new with no rattles or shakes, start and run perfect. The spoiler on the trans am needs to be replaced as it has shrunk, it will be replaced before delivery. a scuff on the outside of the right mirror on the Camaro, that will also be repaired before shipping. The Trans Am hatch struts also need to be replaced, this will also be repaired post sale.Other than that these two cars are super rare and Barrett Jackson worthy. There were only 26 1LE Trans Am's produced in 1989, almost all raced. Some weredestroyed during the races, some were modified further and destroyed in other series and others just were justmile'd out and completely neglected. How many are remaining? Not many! how many were never raced? maybe 2-3 may even be less! remember I can help with arranging the shipping and USA title.
