This classic 1937 Pontiac Deluxe 224 was considered an elegant sedan of steel in its time. Billed as "America's Finest Low Priced Car," Pontiac's actually cost almost 50 percent more to produce.
This vehicle was a barn-find restoration project undertaken in the early 2000's by a father-and-son duo who worked until the fathers passing. The car was afterwords sold to a dealership and kept in their showroom for its constant reminder of what was lost.
What makes this classic car stand out ? All-steel "turret-top" design, famed "Silver Streak" hood design, suicide doors, exceptionally beautiful art deco styling dash with faux wood Bakelite combined with the cream-colored gauge faces. Large steering wheel allows for easy steering, extended wheel base makes it one of the roomiest cars of the era.
Built on the General Motors B-body, the 222 CID, straight-six performance is best described as purposeful. Smooth acceleration, and in spite of the modest 85 horsepower, the six-cylinder engine has a surprising amount of hauling capacity.
It is easy to see why Pontiac was known to many "as the most beautiful thing on wheels". driving around in this car is a peek into the past - another time and place. This is a piece of history to be added to any collector's private stash. The EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL Black paint is showing several small chips and imperfections but is still bright, shiny and looks GORGEOUS as you can clearly see in the pictures above and below.
